Darven L. Brown ’49, POL SCI, a veteran of World War II, is a lawyer who has served the city of Tulsa, Okla., for 52 years. He lives in Tulsa.

Oliver R. Parish fs ’53, who worked for some 40 years in California as an energy consultant, is enjoying his retirement. He and his wife Orpha reside in Derby, Kan.*

Jackie N. Williams ’67, BUS ADM, has been named city attorney of Topeka, Kan., where he will oversee a staff of 12 lawyers and 10 support personnel. Williams, who has spent most of his career as a prosecutor in federal courts, lives in Topeka.*

Fred G. Pavey ’68, ECON, is human resources director at Universal Products in Goddard, Kan. He lives in Wichita.

David E. Brewer ’69, PSYCH, has been recognized with an “I Make a Difference Award” for his volunteer work. For 12 years now, the KPTS Channel 8 program manager has volunteered his time to read and perform folk music at Oaklawn Elementary School. He resides in Wichita.

Robert D. Cumley ’69, PSYCH, is retiring from his position as Springfield, Mo., city manager. He lives in Springfield.

Robert J. Matreci ’69, EL E, is a senior member of the technical staff at Agilent Technologies in Santa Rosa, Calif., where he resides.

John T. Moore ’69, HIST, is a senior trial attorney at Moore Martin LC, and lives Wichita.

Warren E. Pickett ’69, PHYS, ’71 M PHYS, distinguished professor of physics, is chairman of physics at the University of California-Davis. Noted for his research in the field of experimental condensed matter physics, Pickett lives in Davis.

Beverly K. Dunning ’70, M SEC ED, who began her career as an assistant 4-H agent in Sedgwick County in 1964, is the Sedgwick County extension director. She lives in Wichita.

Robert R. Bunting ’71, M HIST, is assistant dean of arts, humanities and social sciences at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., where he lives.

Wesley L. Penner Jr. ’72, ECON, ’78 M ECON, who for the past 18 years owned and operated the executive search firm Penner Phares Associates, is now president of AQYR Inc. Executive Search in Wichita. He lives in Derby, Kan.

Eddie J. Raymond ’72, ENG L/LIT, is assistant superintendent of human resources for Wichita public schools. He lives in Wichita.

Katie (Funk) Wiebe ’72, M ENG, a Tabor College professor emeritus, has prepared and presented a memoir writing workshop, “If You Don’t Write Your Story, Who Will?” She resides in Wichita.

Ray L. Burford ’73, PE, is senior vice president for commercial lending at Security Savings Bank in Wichita, where he resides.*

Neil L. Guthrie ’75, PSYCH, ’77 M STUD PERS, ’80 ED ADM, is special education director for Wichita public schools. He lives in Wichita.

Marla J. (Nix) Roehr ’75, NURS, a school nurse in the Liberal, Kan., public school system, has been honored by the Kansas School Nurse Organization as the 2008 Kansas School Nurse of the Year Award. She lives in Liberal.

Cynthia L. (Sawyer) Tannehill ’75, SP, ’83 M COMM, is a certified Life Purpose Coach. She lives in Wichita.*

Paul A. Dextras ’76, GEN ST, ’84 M URB A, a former fire chief of the Arvada, Colo., Fire Protection District, is fire chief for the Billings, Mont., Fire Department. He has nearly three decades of firefighting experience, and lives in Billings.

David L. Kinder ’76, M S ART/P, ’85 ART ED, art instructor at Garden City Community College and director of Mercer Gallery in Lindsborg, Kan., has exhibited a collection of his artwork, “Herakles Strangling the Nemean Lion,” at the Sandzen Gallery. He lives in Garden City, Kan.

Marc A. Porter ’76, ADM, ’76 M ACCT, is senior vice president at The Law Co. He lives in Wichita.

Maureen A. (Lingwood) Goering ’78, EL ED, is principal of Eliot Elementary School in Eliot, Maine. She lives in York, Maine.

Cheryl K. (Jones) Kopfman ’79, EL ED, who teaches fifth grade at Sedan, Kan., Elementary School, was recognized as Sedan’s Teacher of the Year for 2007-2008. A teacher since 1979, she lives in Caney, Kan.

Lois A. Lynn ’79, POL SCI, is child and family counsel at Youthville, an organization that handles child welfare cases in the Wichita area. She resides in Wichita.

Douglas P. Smith ’79, M AJ, assistant professor of criminal justice at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., received the Donna Meredith Humphreys Award for Teaching. He resides in Salina, Kan.

Howard “Butch” H. Herring Jr. ’80, AJ, director of police and parking services at Pittsburg State University for 32 years, plans to retire this fall. He lives in Pittsburg, Kan.

Alison K. (Lindsay) Brookins ’81, LEG A, ’81 AJ, is an administrative law judge with the Social Security Administration, Region VII Wichita Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. She lives in Andover, Kan.

Anita G. (Pettay) Kirkpatrick ’81, CDS, ’82 M CDS, is a staff writer for the Kingman Leader-Courier, where she covers sports and other community events. She lives in Kingman, Kan.

Lee E. Krehbiel ’81, HIST, is vice president of student affairs at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, where he resides.

Virginia K. (Ollek) Potter ’81, NURS, is a Humana MarketPoint representative. She lives in Buhler, Kan.

Harold W. Casey ’82, CR WR, is president and project director at the Substance Abuse Center of Kansas in Wichita. He lives in Valley Center, Kan.

Sonia R. Greteman ’82, ART GD, Greteman Group chief executive and creative director, has been named Marketer of the Year by the Wichita American Marketing Association. Greteman Group, one of the region’s largest branding agencies with billings of $24.7 million in 2007, has replaced its “Burn to Create” brand with “Altitude Attitude.” Greteman lives in Wichita.

Jamey D. (Fogg) Kendall ’82, NURS, is a newborn screening follow-up coordinator for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. She lives in Topeka, Kan.

Stephen E. Hoch ’83, PA, is a physician assistant with the Mercy Physician Group in Independence, Kan., where he lives.

D. Robert Raine ’83, POL SCI, ’91 M PUB ADM, is the city of Wichita’s assistant finance director. He lives in Wichita.

Phil R. Stephenson ’83, MGT, coach of the Dodge City A’s and the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors baseball teams, will be inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in October. The induction will be the former Shocker baseball standout’s seventh such honor; he is a member of the College Baseball, Missouri Valley Conference Sports, Kansas Baseball, Wichita Sports, Shocker Sports and his high school hall of fame in Guthrie, Okla. He lives in Dodge City, Kan.

Timothy “Tim” R. Wilson ’83, POL SCI, is COO/CFO of Hydro-Photon Inc. in Blue Hill, Maine. He lives in Belfast, Maine.*

William F. Cummings ’84, HIST, is a trial lawyer and managing partner at Cummings & Cummings LLC. He resides in Wichita.

Lillian J. Lattis ’84, AJ, is a volunteer coordinator at Episcopal Social Services in Wichita. She resides in Wichita.

Ronald D. Chronister ’85, AJ, is a music teacher and teachers union negotiator in Halstead, Kan., where he lives.

Janet S. Hamous ’85, M BUS ADM, is human resources director at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson, Kan. She resides in Wichita.

Rae A. Niles ’85, EL ED, ’06 PHD ED, is a national assistant manager of professional development for Apple. She lives in Sedgwick, Kan.*

David P. Rundle ’85, JOURN, who writes commentaries about disability issues for the Wichita Eagle, has received the 2007-08 Arc of Sedgwick County Adult Achiever award for his efforts and support on behalf of people with developmental disabilities. He lives in Wichita.*

Andrea L. (Andersen) Scarpelli ’85, FIN, is Security Savings Bank’s community bank president for the Wichita area. She lives in Wichita.

Robert E. Watson ’85, AJ, has been reelected district attorney for the 13th Judicial District in Colorado. He resides in Brush, Colorado.

Mary J. (Maze) Whiteside ’85, M EAS, is the Wichita public school district’s personnel director. She lives in Wichita.

Patti S. (Niblack) Harms ’86, EL ED, is a volunteer coordinator at Victory in the Valley in Wichita, where she lives.

Jean A. (Crowder) Hays ’86, JOURN, metro editor at the Wichita Eagle, has been named deputy editor/news as part of a reorganization of the newsroom’s top editors. She lives in Wichita.

Dwight M. Kilian ’86, MUS P, jazz bassist, performed with the Dwight Kilian Jazz Quartet at the Russell American Roots Festival in Russell, Kan. He lives in Phoenix, Ariz.

Emily M. (Shaw) Lies ’86, SP ED ADM, is executive director for child care for the Wichita YMCA. She resides in Wichita.

E. “Randy” Nelson ’86, M BUS ADM, serves as the United Way of the Plains’ 2008 campaign chairman. He is senior vice president for product development and engineering at Hawker Beechcraft Corp. in Wichita, where he lives.

Timothy D. Rives ’86, GEN ST, is supervisory archivist at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene, Kan. He was as an archivist at the National Archives-Central Plains in Kansas City, Mo. Rives, who also is a researcher and writer on such historical subjects as baseball’s Negro Leagues and the presidency of Ulysses S. Grant, resides in Abilene.

Carol E. Williams ’86, AJ, is the executive director of the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission. She lives in Topeka, Kan.

David E. Dean-Jones ’87, LAT, is middle school dean of students at St. Stephan’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas, where he resides.

“Brad” A. Eilts ’87, MKT, ’99 M PUB ADM, is director of the Montgomery County Action Council, a countywide economic development organization based in Independence, Kan.

Jan S. Meyer ’87, BUS ADM, who is a staff accountant at Koch Mineral Services, serves as treasurer for the Kansas Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She resides in Wichita.*

Dennis E. Marten ’88, AA NAT SCI/MATH, has been promoted to captain and oversees the Kansas Highway Patrol’s Troop F, which comprises 13 counties in south central Kansas. He lives in Wichita.

Denise D. (Nelson) Seguine ’88, M ED PSYCH, ’02 PHD EAS, is the Wichita public school district’s chief academic officer. She lives in Wichita.

Lars C. Stamp ’88, JOURN, is president of Serenity Home Health. Formerly an executive at Hospice Care of Kansas, he plans to expand Serenity Home’s private-duty business. He lives in Wichita.

Aaron M. Wells ’88, FIN, employee benefits director for Hilb Rogal & Hobbs of Kansas, was one of six people in the nation to be named a Power Broker in the health category in the June issue of Risk & Insurance. He lives in Augusta, Kan.

Julie M. (Askins) Cedeno ’89, EL ED, is a fourth grade teacher at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Pittsburg, Kan., where she resides.

Geri L. Dreiling ’89, PSYCH, legal writer, publicist and president of the pr/multimedia writing firm Legal Media Matters, has partnered with Olmstead & Associates of St. Louis, Mo., as an adjunct legal writer and publicist. She lives in St. Louis.

Mark S. Flickinger ’89, ART, is a painter and humanities instructor at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kan., where he lives.

Chee C. Leong ’89, MCH E, is a manager at Orion Europe PTE Ltd., based in Shanghai, China. He resides in Singapore.

Leslea S. (Dunbar) Roach ’89, MAN, is director of the representative payee program at Episcopal Social Services in Wichita, where she lives.

Pamela L. (Phillips) Doyle ’90, ENG L/LIT, ’94, M ENG, is the administrator for learner enrollment at Wichita Technical College. She lives in Derby, Kan.

Larry A. Felix ’90, M H SCI, the administrator of Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kan., is serving a two-year term on the Hospital Advisory Committee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. He lives in Ottawa.

Mark E. Standiford ’90, BUS ADM, a former Shocker All-American, is head coach of the Tabor College (Hillsboro, Kan.) Bluejays’ baseball team. He resides in Wichita.

Gayla L. Ratzlaff ’91, M GERON, who has 19 years of experience as a hospital and nursing home social worker, is coordinator of the Marion County Department for Elderly. She lives in Hillsboro, Kan.

Michael A. Archibeque ’92, PE, principal of Pleasant Valley Middle School, is a member of the U.S. Army Reserves serving in the Middle East. He is the first Wichita principal to deploy as part of the Iraq War. In August, he spoke via satellite hookup to some 40 Pleasant Valley students.

David M. Flask ’93, MKT, former director of the McPherson, Kan., Museum and Arts Foundation, is director of Wichita’s Old Cowtown Museum. He lives in Wichita.

Christen L. Skaer ’93, GEN ST, has been recognized as the Kansas Veterinarian of the Year by the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association. At 39, Skaer is the youngest veterinarian to earn the award — and the only woman in more than 12 years. She resides in Wichita.

Karen G. Fillenworth ’94, EL ED, is insurance services manager at the Wichita Independent Business Association in Wichita. She lives in Valley Center, Kan.

Stephanie L. (Orr) Hunt ’94, M ACCT, is supervising associate of assurance services at Allen, Gibbs & Houlik LC in Wichita, where she resides.

Tracy A. (Lockwood) Schoenhofer ’94, M CDS, a speech clinician at Mueller Elementary School in Wichita, has been recognized for her 10 years of service. She lives in Andover, Kan.

Kimberly S. (Griggs) Volker ’94, M COUNS, has been a counselor at Stafford Elementary School for 27 years. She lives in Stafford, Kan.

Darrell G. Atteberry ’95, ECON, ’00 M PUB ADM, commands the Wichita Police Department’s larceny section. The WPD lieutenant resides in Bel Aire, Kan.

Steve P. Kloempken ’95, BUS ADM, serves as the technical director for the U.S. Bowling Congress, the national governing body of bowling. Kloempken will manage the USBC specifications and certifications team, which conducts research and testing on bowling balls, lanes, pins and other bowling equipment. He lives in Arlington, Texas.

Marla A. (Baalman) Schaben ’95, H SCI, ’98 M PT, is presidential director of the nutritional supplements marketing company Reliv International. She is in the top one percent of Reliv’s more than 69,000 distributors. She lives in Wichita.

Justin B. Eklund ’96, COMM ADV, is communications director for Westlink Christian Church in Wichita, where he resides.

Max A. Tenbrook ’96, M AJ, is captain of the special operations bureau of the Wichita Police Department. He lives in Wichita.

Karen R. (Hotopp) Wawrzaszek ’96, BUS ADM, former vice president and private client manager with the High Net Worth Division of U.S. Trust, Bank of America NA, is a client advisor with the firm of Laird Norton Tyee in Seattle, Wash. Wawrzaszek brings to her new position more than 15 years of investment and trust experience. She lives in Bellevue, Wash.

Benjamin J. Drouhard ’97, PSYCH, ’04 M ED PSYCH, branch president of Citizens Bank of Kansas, has been awarded a Prochnow Educational Foundation Scholarship to the Graduate School of Banking in Wisconsin. He lives in Wichita.

Marcus A. Hicks ’97, GEN ST, is assistant director of admissions-transfer specialist at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan. He has more than 10 years of experience working with college students as a coach, admissions counselor, instructor and academic advisor. He resides in McPherson, Kan.

Michael H. Roehrman ’97, COMM, a Wichita Eagle deputy editor/production, lives in Wichita.

Jeff R. Smith ’97, EL ED, is principal at the Sixth Grade Center in Derby, Kan., where he lives.

Mandy R. (Pullin) Walls ’97, M CI, a Park Elementary School teacher, is a state finalist for the 2008 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. She lives in Derby, Kan.*

Minde E. Johnsen ’98, GEN ST/SOC, is a relationship manager at Heartland Payment Systems in Wichita, where she resides.

Jason T. McClintlock ’98, MAN, ’02 M BUS ADM, is the senior director of product management at Coleman Co. in Wichita, where he lives.

Bradley S. Ragland ’98, GEN ST, and three colleagues, all former McBride Electric employees, have formed Integrated Electrical Technologies LLC, after the San Diego-based McBride closed its Wichita operations. Ragland lives in Wichita.

Donna L. Shank ’98, POL SCI, was elected in June as chair of the nine-member Kansas Board of Regents. Shank, originally appointed to the board by Gov. Bill Graves in 2002, was appointed to a second term by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius in 2007 and will continue to serve through June 2010. She lives in Liberal, Kan.*

Anne L. (Anderton) Warren ’98, SOC, ’00 M PUB ADM, is the senior human resources specialist for the city of Wichita. She lives in Wichita.

Cheryl L. Hetherington ’99, M MUS ED, a vocal music teacher at College Hill Elementary School in Wichita, has been an educator for 30 years. She lives in Bel Aire, Kan.

Gretchen S. (Jabara) Homan ’99, BIOCHEM, a pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, practices at Cottonwood Pediatrics in Newton, Kan. She lives in Wichita.

L. Scott Moore ’99, M PUB ADM, is Wichita’s interim city manager. He lives in Wichita.

Dianne P. Popp ’99, PE, who played basketball for New Zealand in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, coaches volleyball and teaches PE at Wichita’s Northwest High School. She lives in Wichita.

Jennifer R. Sparlin ’99, M COMM/THEA, an adjunct instructor at Butler Community College, Andover, Kan., had her short story for teens, “Spare Parts,” published in the July 2008 issue of Beyond Centauri. She resides in Wichita.

Nathan K. Houseman ’00, GEN ST, is manager of First Bank of Newton’s South Kansas branch. The Newton, Kan., resident is also an actor, who performed Lou Gehrig’s famous farewell speech during a Wichita Wingnuts game in July.

Joan H. (Goering) Brubacher ’01, M SCO WK, who has worked for Prairie View’s older adult services department since 1992, has received the Irene Hart Award from the Central Plains Area Agency on Aging. She lives in North Newton, Kan.

Angela M. (Constance) Daffron ’01, MKT, is a senior marketing director at Jones Lang LaSalle in Albuquerque, N.M. She lives in Rio Rancho, N.M.

Robin R. (Rivera) Dexter ’01, PHD EAS, has been selected by the Pittsburg, Kan., Board of Education to serve as interim superintendent for the 2008-2009 school year. She lives in Pittsburg.

Robin K. Hartzell ’01, GEN ST/COMM, is community manager of income development for the American Cancer Society in Wichita, where he lives.

John B. Kramer ’01, JOURN, is one of the authors of the biography of Ron Paul, Ron Paul: A Better Way. The book will be released by Variant Press this fall. Kramer lives in Wichita.

Stanley S. Lett ’01, COMP SCI, is a senior software engineer at Pratt & Whitney in Huntsville, Ala., where he resides.

Joseph L. Naughton ’01, ACCT, is project manager and business analyst at CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business in Monsey, N.Y. He lives in Hurley, N.Y.
