Linwood B. Sexton ’48, PE, Hall of Fame athlete, lauded community leader, former teacher and longtime sales manager at Hiland Dairy in Wichita, is slated as the fourth of five speakers in the WSU Alumni Association’s 2010-2011 Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series. Sexton’s campus lecture is set for March 10, 2011. He lives in Wichita.*

Carole J. (Hicks) Seitz ’60, MUS ED, ’61 M MUS ED, is professor of music and associate chair of performing arts at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. She lives in Fremont, Neb.

Myron R. Janzen ’60, PHYS, is a retired algebra teacher who served for 12 years in the U.S. Air Force. He also is co-author of a book on Texas postal history and a Senior Olympics silver-medal winner in horseshoe pitching. He lives in Wichita.

Paul D. Travis ’62, SEC ED HIST, ’66 M HIST, is professor of history at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas, where he resides.*

Robert A. Geist ’64, PSYCH, owner and chairman of Rage Inc., was awarded the Legion of Merit Award by Phi Delta Theta for his “lifelong dedication and commitment” to the fraternity. He resides in Wichita.*

Mary L. (Lisenby) Tidwell ’64, MUS I, ’70 M SEC ED, is senior academic advisor at Brandman University in Roseville, Calif. She lives in Sacramento, Calif.

Thomas A. Valentine ’66, HIST, is an attorney with Valentine, Zimmerman & Zimmerman PA in Topeka, Kan., where he resides.

Larry D. Van Horn ’66, ACCT, is chief financial officer at GLMV Architecture Inc. in Wichita. He lives in Andover, Kan.

V. William “Bill” Balthrop ’67, ECON, is professor of rhetorical studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he resides.*

Bernard F. Zaleski ’67, POL SCI, a financial advisor with New York Life, is a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals-Wichita chapter board of directors. He is a Wichita resident.

Jean G. Laurent ’68, AERON E, is an independent member of the board of directors of Danone SA, a Paris, France-based company engaged in food processing activities. Laurent is also chairman of the company’s Social Responsibility Committee. Laurent lives in Paris.

Thomas “Tom” J. Vrana ’69, ACCT, has retired from Larson Vrana LLC, CPAs after a career that included work as a staff accountant, partner and managing partner at F.B. Kubik & Co. CPAs, senior vice president of finance and administration at International Pizza Hut Franchise Holders Association, among other positions with entrepreneurs. He lives in Overland Park, Kan.*

Gary A. Woods ’69, HIST, ’71 M HIST, is vice chancellor of military programs at Brandman University in Irvine, Calif., where he resides.*

Don W. Lock ’70, PE, former Shocker baseball player, major league player and minor league coach, has been inducted into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. He lives in Wichita.*

Marlin K. Penner ’70, BUS ADM, president of John T. Arnold Associates Inc., is a director of the Wichita Rotary Charitable Fund. He lives in Wichita.

Russell G. Schuh ’70, SOC, a nonprofit service and education organization evaluator and consultant, is clinical research instructor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, where he resides.

David L. Dahl ’71, BUS ADM, ’74, M BUS ADM, partner at Johnson, Kennedy, Dahl & Willis, former Shocker basketball player and longtime WSU basketball color analyst, was inducted into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. He lives in Wichita.*

Michael A. James ’71, POL SCI, is senior vice president at Memphis, Tenn.,-based Accredo Health Group, a specialty pharmacy with sales in excess of $11 billion. Accredo is a subsidiary of Medco Health Solutions, a pharmacy benefit management company that ranks No. 35 on the Fortune Top 100 list. James, who is slated as the first speaker in the WSU Alumni Association’s 2010-2011 Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series, splits his time between residences in Memphis and Chicago.*

Kathleen A. Warren ’71, SEC ED SP, is senior account manager at Parsons Public Relations in Seattle, where she resides.

Durrel E. Kelley ’72, ACCT, is a director in the assurance services department of BKD LLP’s health-care division in Wichita. He lives in Derby, Kan.

Freda J. (Peterson) Proctor ’72, MUS P, is an assistant professor of music at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan. She resides in Kansas City, Kan.

Ross A. Hollander ’73, SP, president and shareholder at Joseph & Hollander PA, Wichita, and the 2007-08 president of the WSU Alumni Association, has been recognized in the 2011 edition of Best Lawyers in America for labor and employment law. He resides in Wichita.*

Bobby F. Stout ’73, CERT AJ, ’74 AJ, ’76 M AJ, has retired as executive director of the Wichita Crime Commission, where he served for 53 years. He lives in Wichita.

Jackie “Jack” W. Cowden ’74, PSYCH, is vice president, human resources at Emerson Flow Controls in St. Louis. He lives in Saint Peters, Mo.

Wayne V. McIntosh ’74, M POL SCI, is a professor of government and politics at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md., where he lives.

Vicki J. Worrell ’77, PE, associate professor of heath, physical education and recreation at Emporia State University, is president-elect of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She resides in Wichita.

Darrell L. Love ’79, M MATH, is senior lecturer with research expertise in project management, software development and operating systems at Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Joel O. Powell-Dahlquist ’79, PSYCH/SOC, professor and coordinator of criminal justice at Minnesota State University Moorhead, is researching how people convicted of crimes tell convincing stories of innocence and wrongful conviction. He lives in Moorhead, Minn.

Joanne H. (Hamlin) Smith ’79, M SPG, is vice president for student affairs at Texas State University San Marcos. She lives in Schertz, Texas.

John B. Walton ’79, M AJ, is associate dean at San Jose-based Henley-Putman University. He lives in Weston, Fla.

Dan A. Burke ’80, M EAS, has retired as vice principal and counselor at Hotchkiss High School in Hotchkiss, Colo., after working in education for 35 years. He lives in Hotchkiss.

Patrick J. O’Connor ’86, GEN ST, ’89 M COMM, who has written extensively about the history of mid-20th century Wichita, presented an illustrated lecture at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum about Moody’s Skidrow Beanery, which was a focal point for Wichita’s artistic counterculture during the 1960s. O’Connor lives in Wichita.

Lassley ’10, GEN ST, former Shocker catcher who started in 52 games as a senior, hit .366 with 11 home runs and 46 RBI, was named All-MVC scholar-athlete and All-Missouri Valley Conference, and while not selected in this year’s draft, was called by the Toronto Blue Jays and is now with the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays in Dunedin, Fla.
