Joe Stone and Bob Dominick

THERE WE ALL ARE

Dear Wichita State:

Never could I have imagined finding myself mentioned in a publication along with the secretary general of the United States, the queen of England and her prime minister, the Pope, a couple of state governors and a Coast Guard admiral, but there we all are in the summer 2003 edition of The Shocker.

After reading and enjoying the article (“Ninety Years to Pomp and Circumstance”) about Joe Stone ’03, I dug out the enclosed snapshot of Joe and Bob Dominick (right) which I took in 1936 in front of the Brig, the journalism department.

Sincerely,
Loy Wood ’36, Chevy Chase, Md.

THANKS, WUTAGGERS

Dear WSU Alumni Association:

I would like to express my gratitude for your WSU License Plate Scholarship. Thank you so much for supporting me by allowing me to live on campus, take a full course load and participate in Wichita State University organizations, activities and services.

This semester I continue teaching music, performing with the WSU orchestra, band and jazz ensembles and serving as a WSU Student Ambassador. I am looking forward to playing for our basketball teams in the WSU Basketball Band. On Friday mornings I travel to one of our area high schools to work with the band students there. You’ve made all these dreams possible for me. You’ve allowed me to do exactly what I love most: share music and share our Shocker Spirit!

Sincerely,
Amanda Hanson, one of five 2003-04 WSU License Plate Scholarship recipients

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

Dear The Shocker:

The summer 2003 issue is truly outstanding. It has a variety of interesting articles. I thoroughly enjoyed several. The photography is also outstanding. Keep up the good work.

ONE YEAR AT A TIME

Dear WSU Alumni Association:

I enjoy receiving the magazine and hearing about WSU. It was Fairmount College when I was a freshman. I’m renewing my membership. I’m 95, so I renew one year at a time now!
