Mogie Curmode is crowned Homecoming Queen

Wichita State senior Mogie Curmode, above, is crowned Homecoming 2014 Queen by Tessie Arambula, Homecoming 2013 Queen, at halftime of the WSU vs. Drake men's basketball game Feb. 22 at Koch Arena. A communication sciences and disorders major, Curmode plans on a career as a speech language pathologist after graduation. On campus, the native Wichitan is active in Greek life as an Alpha Phi.

Shockers from near and far came home to Wichita State for an experience like no other — Cirque du WSU.

The multifaceted Shocker gathering, held Feb. 17-22, featured events of every nature — audacious, exciting, rejuvenating, creative, relaxing and daring. Activities included a Worldwide Spirit Day, a Nearly Naked Run, the Class of 1964's 50-year reunion, the inaugural Shockers Got Talent show and the selection of a Homecoming King and Queen chosen from a Cirque du WSU royalty court of 10 Wichita State seniors.

Mogie Curmode and Roy Moye III were announced as Queen and King at halftime of the Feb. 22 Shocker men's game against Drake at Koch Arena.

Joining members of the royalty court on the floor for coronation ceremonies, which were sponsored by Meritrust Credit Union, were WSU President John Bardo, Deborah Bardo, Meritrust president and CEO James Nastars, chair of the alumni association board Mildred Edwards, association president and CEO Debbie Kennedy, and several past Homecoming Kings and Queens, including Elaine Brady, the University of Wichita's 1960 Queen.

Joining Meritrust as promotional or activity sponsors were Chauncey Photography, Denis and Shirley Dieker, and Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes.
