Arthur P. Barnes ’52, MUS ED, ’53 M MUS ED, has retired after 50 seasons as music director and conductor of the Livermore-Amador Symphony. During his career, Barnes also spent nearly 35 years at Stanford University, conducting the chamber orchestra, overseeing the band program and teaching theory, ear training and score reading. He has appeared as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator across the United States and in Australia, Japan, England and the Philippines. He is a resident of Stanford, Calif.*

Donald E. Lambdin ’52, POL SCI, whose career spanned six decades of practicing law – including a stint as a judge advocate in the U.S. Air Force and most recently at Lambdin, Lambdin & Fraser Chtd. – retired in August. He lives in Maize, Kan.    

E. David Kirk Jr. ’58, BIO, is an internal medicine and geriatrics physician at Kansas Physician Group. He lives in Wichita.* 

John J. “Jim” Klisanin ’58, I ED, owns and is a broker at Baytown Realty in Seal Beach, Calif. A former Shocker football player, he resides in Seal Beach.* 

Shirley A. (Spohn) Jester ’59, EL ED, works as a Realtor for Albright Realty in Winfield, Kan., where she lives. 

Sue A. (Newsom) Vance ’59, MUS ED, ’62 M MUS I, is organist and pianist at First Christian Church of Harrison, Ark., where she lives. 

Michael W. Treweeke ’68, BIO, ’68 CHEM, is an internal medicine physician at Kansas Physician Group in Wichita. He is a resident of Towanda, Kan.

Janice M. Thacker ’69, ART ED, had her work “Dreamer” featured on Fall 2014 Pledge Drive materials for Wichita’s public radio station, KMUW. She lives in Wichita.

Dale L. Williams ’71, IE, who earned degrees in engineering from WSU and Texas A&M University before graduating No. 1 in his class from the dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio in 1983, is a dentist at Central Texas Dental Care in Hewitt, Texas. He lives in Waco, Texas. 

Michael W. Cannon ’72, CHEM, who received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, began private practice in Wichita in 1982 and joined the Cancer Center of Kansas in 1986. He is a clinical assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita and a member of the Wichita Community Clinical Oncology Program, a National Cancer Institute-sponsored research program. He lives in Wichita. 

Nicholas “Nick” C. Barber ’73, BUS ADM, a former Shocker football player, is co-owner of a marina on Lake George in New York. He also serves on the board of directors for the Prospect School, a school for the developmentally disabled. He lives in Glens Falls, N.Y. 

William “Bill” D. Buscher ’73, POL SCI, has retired from his position as vice president of Capitol Federal, after spending nearly 38 years with the company. He lives in Topeka, Kan. 

Dan P. Ritter ’73, I ED, a former Shocker football player, is an engineering instructor and robotics coach at Blue Valley public schools. He resides in Overland Park, Kan. 

Victoria C. Adame ’75, SEC ED, ’76 M CDS, ’94 M EAS, is principal at Prairie View Special Purpose School in Newton, Kan. She lives in Wichita. 

Jill Z. (Smith) Frasco ’75, SOC, ’75 PSYCH, is president of the Wichita Rotary Charitable Fund. She lives in Wichita.*

K. James Kallail ’75, CDS, ’76 M CDS, is associate chair of research at the KU School of Medicine–Wichita. He lives in Derby, Kan. 

Janet S. Peery ’75, CDS, ’92 M ENG CR, is an award-winning creative writer and professor in the department of English at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., where she lives. 

Michael A. Razook ’75, PE, is corporate training manager at Spirit AeroSystems. He resides in Wichita.* 

Joe L. Barnes ’76, BIO, is medical director for Hospice Services Inc.’s palliative care program. He lives in Smith Center, Kan. 

Elizabeth “Beth” B. Eagleton ’76, NURS, ’80 M NURS, is director of nursing at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where she lives. 

Alfonso “Al” E. Lenhardt ’76, M AJ, is deputy administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Formerly the U.S. Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania, he lives in the Washington, D.C., area. 

Steven G. Saunders ’76, BIO, ’83 M BIO, ’87 M P ACCT, is a senior analyst at Ranson Financial in Wichita, where he lives. * 

Mary Beth (Sanders) Steiner ’77, NURS, ’86 M COUNS, is director of health home and aging services for the Mental Health Association of South Central Kansas. She lives in Wichita. 

Robert “Rob” E. Swinson ’77, ANTHRO, former national sales manager for Chance Rides, an amusement ride manufacturer based in Wichita, is the author of Maker of Dreams: Creating Michael Jackson’s “Neverland Valley Park,” a book about his experiences working as one of the creators of the entertainer’s amusement park in California. He lives in Wichita.

Willie E. Smith ’79, GEN ST, is corporate safety director for D.H. Griffin of Texas Inc., a demolition company. A former Shocker football player, he lives in Sugar Land, Texas.

Leonard P. “Bud” Snodgrass ’79, MKT, is director of logistics at Universal Lubricants in Wichita, where he lives. 

Jackie L. (Ratts) Wise ’79, GEN ST, Entercom Communications vice president and general manager, is the 2014 campaign chair of United Way of the Plains. She lives in Mulvane, Kan.*

Kevin C. Clement ’80, MKT, is executive vice president of SandRidge Energy Inc. and president of the company’s saltwater gathering operations. He lives in Tulsa, Okla. 

Janis M. Friesen ’80, JOURN, ’86 M COMM, is president of Friesen & Associates, an advertising, marketing and PR firm. She lives in Wichita.

Bryan S. Hanning ’80, BUS ADM, is a financial planner for AGH Wealth Management. A former Shocker football player, he lives in Wichita.*

Laura L. (Klema) Hill ’80, M SPG, received the Distinguished Service Award from Muskingum University, which is the institution’s highest alumni honor. She is founder, president, CEO and chief clinical officer of the Center for Balanced Living, a nonprofit clinic in Worthington, Ohio. She also serves as clinical assistant professor of the psychiatry department in the College of Medicine at Ohio State University. She resides in Granville, Ohio. 

Michaela L. (Hammer) Stenger ’80, GEN ST, ’87 M LIB ST, is a licensed clinical social worker who provides mental health assessments and therapy for children, individuals, couples and families in the Ames, Iowa, and Webster City, Iowa, offices of Youth and Shelter Services Inc. She lives in Webster City.  

Michael C. Berendes ’81, AJ, owns Food Marketing Services. A resident of Hartland, Wis., he is a former Shocker football player.

Katherine E. (Miller) Bohnenkamper ’81, M SEC ED, is an associate librarian at Drury University. She lives in Springfield, Mo.*  

Stephanie A. (Lisowski) Davison ’81, ACCT, is the author of More of God, which presents a six-month devotional for people striving for a closer relationship with God. She lives in Colorado Springs, Colo. 

Bishop “B.J.” Moore ’81, COMM, is contract administrator for the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace. A former Shocker football player, he also is a high school and college football and basketball official, and is coordinator of women’s basketball officials for the KCAC. He lives in Wichita. 

Gordon W. Rogers ’81, M ED, has retired after spending 21 years – 17 as CEO – at Empac, a Wichita-based employee-assistance program provider. He lives in the Kansas City area. 

Chris J. White ’81, PE, is a teacher and coach in the Olathe, Kan., school district. A former Shocker football player, he lives in Olathe. 

Sonia R. Greteman ’82, ART GD, president and creative director at the Greteman Group, has been inducted into the Wichita Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Hall of Fame. She lives in Wichita. 

Ruth A. Richman-Bernard ’82, THEA, is Director of Programs for the Kansas School for Effective Learning. She lives in Wichita. 

James “Jay” E. Hull ’83, AJ, is vice president of sales at Workplace Solutions. An offensive guard on the Shocker football team as a student, he lives in Irving, Texas.*

Debra M. (Vann) Logan ’83, NURS, ’87 M NURS, is chair and director of the Nursing Program at Kansas Wesleyan University. She lives in the Salina, Kan., area. 

Robert J. Marley ’83, GEN ST, ’87 M E MGT, ’90 PHD IE, is provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He resides in Rolla, Mo.*

Melissa K. (Robertson) Orme ’83, ACCT, owner and principal attorney at Orme Law Firm in Peachtree City, Ga., lives in Newnan, Ga.* 

Sheryl L. Fox ’84, AJ, is senior director of non-traditional venue business development at Le Duff America. She lives in the Dallas area. 

Lillian J. Gattis ’84, AJ, is development coordinator at the Kansas Humane Society in Wichita, where she lives. 

Michael “Mike” B. Johnston ’84, MKT, is vice president of operations for Serendipity Labs. A former Shocker football player, he lives in Dalton, Ga. 

Kenneth E. Norman ’84, BUS, is a personal injury lawyer in Woodland Hills, Calif. He lives in the Los Angeles area.

Russell “Russ” L. Williams ’84, MCH E, ’05 M AEROS E, is a FedEx pilot. A former Shocker football player, he lives in Goddard, Kan. 

Emily J. Compton ’85, M PUB ADM, president of Goodwill Industries of Kansas, was selected as a 2014 Women in Business honoree by the Wichita Business Journal. She lives in Wichita. 

F. Owen Fields ’85, BIOCHEM, is vice president of regulatory strategy for Pfizer Worldwide Research and Development. He lives in Glenmoore, Pa.

Tom Johansen ’85, MKT, is a regional account representative for the School Nutrition Solutions division of Harris School Solutions. He lives in Wichita. 

Charmaine Smith ’85, GEN ST, has been appointed executive director of the Innovative Technology Education Fund, which supports innovation in education by funding advanced technology in the classrooms of public, private and parochial schools. A resident of St. Louis, Mo., she has served as the volunteer board chair of Missouri Children’s Trust Fund since 2010.

Clarence A. Wagner ’85, PSYCH, ’92 M COUNS, is a Jobs for America’s Graduates specialist at El Dorado High School in El Dorado, Kan. He lives in Bel Aire, Kan. 

B. Ann Adrian ’86, M ED PSYCH, for her work in the field of gifted education, has been named a 2014 Woman of the Year award recipient in Newton, Kan., where she lives.

Mark J. Bamberger ’86, M GEO, has been re-appointed to chair the Ohio State Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee. A general, sole practice attorney with offices in Tipp City, West Chester, Enon and Spring Valley, Bamberger’s areas of concentration include animal law, environmental law, bankruptcy, domestic relations, and criminal defense. He lives in Spring Valley, Ohio. 

Patrick “Pat” J. Cain ’86, PSYCH, is a Realtor at Bodin Realty International in Boulder, Colo. A former WSU football player, he lives in Superior, Colo. 

Maurice Foxworth ’86, GEN ST, an attorney, is principal at Innovation Works. A member of the Shocker football team while a student, Foxworth lives in St. Louis, Mo. 

Kevin S. Mellor ’86, MKT, an Alliant Insurance Services vice president, lives in Houston, Texas.

Jaime A. Gómez ’87, M CHEM, is vice president of market development at NOVATEC Inc. He lives in Lawrenceville, N.J.  

Brent B. Tener ’87, POL SCI, ’93 M COUNS, is director of the Office of Student Financial Aid and Undergraduate Scholarships at Vanderbilt University. He lives in Brentwood, Tenn.*

Keri D. Black ’88, M NURS, is a certified family nurse practitioner at Lovelace Medical Group in Albuquerque, N.M., where she resides.

Gary A. Hughes ’88, ART GD, had some of his works shown in The Art of Design, Select Works from Graphic Designer Gary Hughes at a gallery at Victoria College in Victoria, Texas. Hughes, who works for Hallmark in Kansas City, resides in Overland Park, Kan. 

Rebecca “Becky” A. (Delaney) Splitt ’88, M BUS ADM, is head of strategic initiatives at StudyBlue, an online flash card study platform. She lives in Mount Horeb, Wis. 

John F. Adler ’89, FIN, is financier/owner of Cash Flow Financial. A former Shocker football player, he lives in Lewisville, Texas. 

Denyse T. Bales-Chubb ’89, M H SCI, Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel vice president and chief executive, lives in the Tampa, Fla., metro area.  

Deborah “Debbie” L. (Northrop) Coan ’89, ACCT, managing director and shareholder at the accounting firm CBIZ MHM, was selected as a 2014 Women in Business honoree by the Wichita Business Journal. She lives in Wichita.

Melody A. Haines ’89, El ED, is a fourth grade teacher at Grandview Elementary School in El Dorado, Kan., where she lives.

John H. Pratte ’90, SEC ED, is a branch general manager at Hodell-Natco Industries. A former WSU football player, he lives in Edwardsville, Ill. 

Jennifer L. Keller ’91, COMM, in June was named Marketer of the Year at the Wichita American Marketing Association’s annual awards ceremony. Keller, who is the community marketing director for the city of Derby, Kan., lives in Wichita.*

V. Kristen (Wolf) Ewy ’95, PA, is a physician assistant for the Kansas Physician Group. She lives in Andover, Kan. 

Vivek Lall ’95, PHD AEROS E, formerly with Boeing in St. Louis, Mo., is chief executive for commercial strategic development at General Atomics in San Diego, Calif. He resides in Poway, Calif. 

Melanie J. (Wheeler) Finn ’96, ACCT, is a staff associate at Marrs, Sevier & Company, an accounting firm in Lakewood, Colo. She lives in Arvada, Colo. 

Eric W. Gober ’96, M CR, grew up in Las Vegas, Nev., the setting for his debut novel, Secrets of the Other Side, which has been awarded the Garcia Memorial Prize as a best fiction book of the year. A resident of Los Angeles, Calif., Gober works as a consultant and is an avid runner. 

Josh R. Hale ’96, BUS ADM, is a supervisor at Anderson ZurMuehlen, a certified public accounting and business advisory firm. He lives in Billings, Mont. 

Mindy M. McPheeters ’96, ACCT, in-house counsel for Delta Dental of Kansas, was selected as a 2014 Women in Business honoree by the Wichita Business Journal. A member of the WSU Alumni Association’s board of directors, she lives in Wichita.*

Thomas “Tom” S. Noyes Jr. ’96, M CR, has penned three fiction collections, the most recent of which, Come by Here: A Novella and Stories, won the 2013 Autumn House Prize in Fiction. His stories have appeared in many literary journals, including American Literary Review, Ascent, Image, Mid-American Review, Sycamore Review, and Third Coast. A resident of Erie, Pa., he teaches creative writing and literature in the BFA program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, where he also serves as contributing editor for the literary journal Lake Effect

Neil W. Piper ’96, PE, ’98 M SP ADM, is head coach of the women’s soccer team at Texas A&M University-Commerce. A native of Portsmouth, England, he lives in Rockwall, Texas.

Malika S. Monger-Evanco ’98, SOC, ’02 M PUB ADM, is director of human resources and volunteer services at Agrace, a nonprofit palliative care and hospice agency that serves southern Wisconsin communities. She lives in Madison, Wis.

Cari S. (Schmidt) Clayton ’99, PSYCH, ’05 M BUS ADM, is senior vice president, commercial lending at UMB Bank. She lives in Wichita. 

Joey D. Dixon-Julian ’99, PA, is a member of the research team at the Dermatology Clinical Research Center of San Antonio. She lives in San Antonio, Texas.

Robert A. Nicholas ’99, MUS ED, is an Oregon sales support supervisor for Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. He lives in Portland, Ore. 

Barbara A. Stewart ’99, M CR, has written The In-Between, a novel for young adult readers. The story centers on the life of 14-year-old Elanor Moss and the relationship she develops with a new friend, Madeline Torus. Stewart resides in Delhi, N.Y.

Joanna C. (Rogers) Brazil ’01, COMM, was named a Rising Star by Young Professionals of Cowley County. A Winfield Public Library children’s librarian, she lives in Winfield, Kan. 

Kim A. Gattis ’02, HR MGT, ’06 M BUS ADM, senior vice president and senior financial planner at UMB Bank, was selected as a 2014 Women in Business honoree by the Wichita Business Journal. She lives in Derby, Kan.*

Roger T. Briggs ’03, ENG CR, ’06 M ENG, is an English teacher at El Dorado (Kan.) High School. He lives in El Dorado, Kan.
