Comings, goings, appointments, retirements, honors, accolades and other notable alumni news. Former students are designated by fs. Honorary alumni are noted as hn. Wichita State University Alumni Association (WSUAA) members are identified by an asterisk (*). Membership dues support alumni communication efforts, as well as other programs and services that support higher education at Wichita State.

Roy J. Beckemeyer ’69, M AERON E, ’74 PhD AERON E, retired engineer who worked at Boeing in Wichita for almost 30 years, conducts research on Paleozoic insect fossils and writes scientific papers and poetry. His first collection of poetry, “Music I Once Could Dance To,” was published in 2014 by Coal City Review and Press, Lawrence, Kan. His poetry has appeared in a number of anthologies and a variety of regional literary journals, including Gazebo, Beecher’s Magazine, Kansas City Voices, The Midwest Quarterly, Straylight, The North Dakota Quarterly, Nebo, Mikrokosmos, Coal City Review, and The Bluest Aye, as well as in The Shocker. An avid fisherman and noted photographer, especially of dragonflies, he lives in Wichita.

Roger A. Buller ’69, BUS ADM, director of Equity Bancshares Inc. and regional manager of Benjamin F. Edwards & Co., is serving on the board of directors for Balstar Healthcare Services Inc. Previously a senior vice president and board member of the Brokerage Subsidiary for A.G. Edwards, Wachovia Securities and Wells Fargo Advisors, he resides in Wichita.

David M. Rapp ’70, PSYCH, is an attorney and leader in the litigation practice group at Hinkle Law Firm LLC. Rapp, who began his career as an assistant Kansas attorney general and has experience handling both criminal and civil cases, has practiced law in Wichita, where he lives, for more than four decades.

Teresa (Harris) Doggett ’71, SEC ED-ENG, chief executive officer of the Waymaker School of Entrepreneurship in Austin, Texas, was appointed director of the Texas Woman’s University Board of Regents by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott this past June. Her term will expire in February 2021. Doggett, who founded the Waymaker School, is also managing director and CEO of Searchlight Investments. In addition to her undergraduate studies at Wichita State, she earned a Juris Doctorate from Creighton Law School and a master’s degree from Harvard School of Government and Business Management. She lives in Austin.

M. Dean Wright ’72, CHEM, is owner and president of Cambridge Family Dentistry in Wichita, where he has practiced general dentistry for more than 40 years. Wright, DDS, PA, is a resident of Wichita.*

Albert “Bert” R. Denny ’73, ACCT, a partner in the Wichita office of Regier Carr & Monroe LLP, CPAs, was one of four recipients of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Sustained Contribution Award. The award recognizes members of the accounting profession who have contributed their time and expertise to the AICPA and the profession through volunteer service. Denny, the director of accounting and auditing, and director of quality control at Regier Carr & Monroe, lives in Wichita.*

Ross A. Hollander ’73, SP, founding member and chair of the employment law and civil litigation division at Joseph, Hollander & Craft LLC, was named Wichita Lawyer of the Year in the Labor Law Management Section by Best Lawyers in America. He was further recognized for his expertise in Employment Law – Management and Litigation – Labor and Employment. A former president of the WSUAA who served from 2007-08, he lives in Wichita.*

M. Clark Bastian ’75, BUS ADM, is board of directors chairman and chief executive officer at Fidelity Bank. He also serves on the board of Fidelity Financial Corp., the holding company of Fidelity. He joined the bank in 1976 as an assistant property manager with Fidelity Management Corp. Active in the community and at Wichita State, he is a member of the WSU Foundation’s National Advisory Council and WSU’s Ulrich Museum of Art Advisory Board. He lives in Wichita.*

Marsha C. (Gates) Shrack ’75, ART ED, ’78 M ART ED, is a ceramics artist who has taught at Pratt (Kan.) Community College since 1985. She lives in Iuka, Kan.

Karen S. (Stahl) Cox ’76, MKT, is chief executive officer at ProviDRs Care, a physician-owned, preferred provider organization in Wichita. She has previously served in administrative roles at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and at IMA of Kansas. She lives in Sedgwick, Kan.*

Richard “Rick” C. Childers ’77, ANTHRO, ’77 POL SCI, is city administrator and city clerk for Buckner, Mo. He has also served as city administrator in the Missouri towns of St. Clair and Richmond. He lives in Liberty, Mo.

Robert J. Davidson ’77, JOURN, has joined Kansas Wesleyan University’s Coyote Sports Network as a special correspondent. Davidson, who was inducted into KWU’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2017, previously worked for 23 years as sports editor for the Salina Journal. He lives in Salina, Kan.*

E. Leigh Hood ’77, AJ, has been appointed by the Kansas Supreme Court as chief judge for the 16th Judicial District, which comprises Clark, Comanche, Ford, Gray, Kiowa and Meade counties. Hood was elected a Ford County district judge in 2000 and has been re-elected four times since. After earning a law degree in 1982 from Washburn University School of Law, he was assistant county attorney for Ford County until 1989, when he became county attorney, serving until 2001. Each of Kansas’ 31 judicial districts is headed by a chief judge. Hood lives in Bucklin, Kan.

Eugene “Gene” M. Gutschenritter ’78, BUS ADM, is chief financial officer at Laham Development Co. LLC in Wichita, where he resides.

Lana J. (Wirt) Myers ’78, HIST, is author of Prairie Rhythms: The Life and Poetry of May Williams Ward, which was named a 2011 Kansas Notable Book. She is also editor of The Diaries of Reuben Smith, Kansas Settler and Civil War Soldier, published by the University Press of Kansas in March 2018. The diarist Smith wrote about some of the most compelling episodes in early Kansas history, from Bleeding Kansas and the Border War (1854-1861) to his post-Civil War political career as a state legislator and steward of the Kansas State Insane Asylum. Myers resides in Newton, Kan.*

Jeff L. Rickabaugh ’78, BIO-BA, ’78 BIO-BS, has begun a three-year term as Speaker of the House of Delegates of the American Association of Orthodontists. Rickabaugh, DDS, MDS, PA, is an orthodontist in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Julia A. Craft ’79, POL SCI, has been recognized with a Wichita Business Journal’s Women in Business award as one of the area’s outstanding businesswomen. Craft is chair of Joseph, Hollander & Craft LLC’s statewide family law division and manager of its Wichita office. A former Sedgwick County assistant district attorney, she launched her private practice in 1989 and merged with Joseph & Hollander in 2011. She resides in Wichita.

Victor “Vic” Everett ’79, PE, who serves on the 2018-2019 WSUAA executive board, is executive of business affairs at Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Wichita. Previously, he was an independent agent with State Farm Insurance. A standout Shocker track and field student-athlete, Everett is listed multiple times on the WSU Men’s All-Time Top-10 Marks rankings, including in the 8th-place 400M spot with a time of 48.44 (1976) and third in the four-man medley relay, also from 1976. One of the volunteer founders of the Shocker Track Club and an advisory council member of the WSUAA’s Black Alumni Network, he lives in Bel Aire, Kan.*

Brent T. “Woody” Giessman fs ’81, who lives in Arlington, Mass., is an artist whose work was featured in the Belmont Gallery’s exhibition Rhythm and Hues: The Heart and Soul of Music, which ran from Sept. 7 through Oct. 12, 2018 in Arlington. Giessman first studied art while a student at Wichita State, where he and three other Shocker students formed the band The Embarrassment. Between 1979 and 1983, Giessman, who was the drummer, vocalist John Nichols fs ’81, guitarist Bill Goffrier ’80 and bassist Ron Klaus fs ’79 were members of one of the best-known bands in the Midwest. Giessman relocated to the Boston area, where he drummed with the critically acclaimed Del Fuegos and later became a noted addiction counselor who developed a unique approach to helping patients through creative expressive therapies, including art and music. He opened Right Turn, a recovery treatment center in Arlington in 2002. Now located in Watertown, Mass., Right Turn has treated hundreds of patients.

Steven L. Vick ’81, ACCT, is co-founder and chief executive officer at Signature Senior Living LLC, a Dallas-based provider of assisted living, personal care and memory care residences. Vick started the company in 2005 after serving as president, CEO and board member of Assisted Living Concepts, which operated 177 residences in 14 states. He lives in Dallas.

Wayne E. Harmon ’82, PE, is a certified athletic trainer with the SportsNet program at Olathe (Kan.) Medical Center. He joined the staff in 2001 after serving as head athletic trainer at Friends University in Wichita. He lives in Olathe.

Marlana Stoddard-Hayes ’83, M ART/P, an artist who works primarily as a painter, is represented by the Butters Gallery in Portland, Ore. She keeps an active exhibition schedule, including a first-time showing in New York City, where her work is in a group show at Brooklyn’s A.I.R. Gallery. She lives in West Linn, Ore.

Gregory M. Towne ’83, MGT, is in his ninth season as women’s golf coach at Indiana State in Terre Haute. All nine of his golfers on last spring’s roster were named to the 2017-18 Missouri Valley Conference honor roll. Towne played collegiate golf at Wichita State and several years professionally.

J. Chris Dennis ’85, ACCT, is president and chief financial officer at Oxford Senior Living in Wichita, where he resides.*

William “Bill” F. Luebbert ’85, BUS ADM-MKT, ’88 M BUS ADM, a member of the 2018-2019 WSUAA executive board, is senior director, supply chain at Cox Communications in Wichita. A resident of Towanda, Kan., he previously worked as a purchasing director at Viega and a supervisor at Learjet.*

Steven P. Smith ’85, POL SCI, has been an attorney with Hinkle Law Firm LLC in Wichita since 1998. He has focused his practice on employee benefit matters. He lives in Wichita.*

David H. Gear ’86, HC ADM, ’88 M H SCI, is executive director of the Guadalupe Clinic in Wichita, where he lives.

David J. Murray ’86, HC ADM, is chief compliance and risk management officer at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Ariz. He lives in Pinetop, Ariz.

Mary L. (Becker) Koehn ’87, NURS, ’90 M NURS, whose background incudes more than 40 years of nursing practice and education, is co-director for HealthSIM United, a non-profit organization that promotes, provides and co-develops simulation experiences for healthcare students and practitioners. In addition, she is a part-time education associate professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, where she focuses on simulation education, curriculum and development. Koehn, who holds a doctoral degree in nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center, was a member of the WSU School of Nursing for 26 years, retiring in 2017 as an associate professor. She lives in Andover, Kan.*

Jolynn A. (Fort) Dowling ’88, NURS, ’95 M NURS, was named to WSU’s Janice M. Riordan Distinguished Professorship in Maternal Child Health. The professorship was established in 2007. Dowling, who joined the WSU faculty in 2005, lives in Derby, Kan.*

Curt B. Hutchens ’88, GEN ST, was one of the exhibiting artists in the “Abstract Artists” group show that ran from Nov. 16 through Dec. 9, 2018 at the Hutchinson Art Center, Hutchinson, Kan. A native Wichitan, the artist is known for his drawings, cartoons, paintings, sculpture and mixed media creations. He lives in Valley Center, Kan.

M. Kristine (Issinghoff) Lawless ’88, AJ, an attorney with Joseph, Hollander & Craft LLC, was named Topeka Lawyer of the Year for Criminal Defense: White Collar by Best Lawyers in America. She was also honored in the sector of Criminal Defense: General Practice. Her primary practice focuses on family law, and the Kansas Supreme Court has certified her as a mediator in domestic cases. She lives in Osage City, Kan.

James M. Krehbiel ’88, HC ADM, is president and CEO of Bluestem Communities, a non-profit made up of several retirement communities, programs and services dedicated to assisting seniors. He lives in Hesston, Kan.

Kirk L. Seminoff ’88, JOURN, an associate editor at the Wichita Business Journal, previously worked as a community engagement editor, sports editor and sports writer at the Wichita Eagle. He lives in Wichita.

Shawn W. Henessee ’90, POL SCI, is manager for Clark County (Wash.), where Vancouver is the county seat. He began the job in July, and oversees the county’s day-to-day administration and policy implementation. Henessee, also a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law, previously served as city administrator in Pleasant Hill, Mo., as assistant director for Jackson County, Mo., and county administrator for Marinette County, Wis.

Jana L. (Kramer) Davis ’91, ACCT, ’91 PSYCH, is chief financial officer at High Touch Technologies in Wichita, where she oversees administrative, financial and risk management operations. She previously worked as CFO and chief operating officer at Bunting Magnetics in Newton, Kan. She lives in Eastborough, Kan.

Mark E. Jenkins ’91, GEN ST, is building and zoning administrator for the City of Newton, Kan. He lives in North Newton, Kan.*

Cynthia A. (Munoz) Powers ’91, M CHEM, is an analytical chemist for Occidental Chemical Corp., which manufactures and markets chlorine, caustic soda, vinyls, and performance chemical products. Powers lives in Wichita.

James “Jamie” R. Bardin ’92, MCH E, is chief executive officer, president and general manager of Atlanta-based Granite+Clay Advisors. He previously worked as vice president and general manager of new venture development for Georgia-Pacific LLC. He lives in Atlanta.

Joyce A. (Flaherty) DiDonato ’92, MUSIC ED-VOCAL, who is one of the opera world’s most sought-after coloratura mezzo-sopranos, has garnered particular success in Baroque repertoire, especially the operas of Handel, such as “Alcina,” “Ariodante,” “Dejanira,” “Elmira,” and “Sesto,” and in Italian bel canto operas. A number of her Handel recordings have gained wide acclaim, including EMI Radamisto (2005), Archiv Produktion Floridante (2007) and Archiv Produktion Alcina (2009). Her recordings are available on Virgin Classics, EMI, Hyperion, Naxos, Avie, Archiv, and TDK. DiDonato was presented the Young Alumni Award by the WSU Alumni Association in 2006.

Daniel “Danny” P. Goyer ’92, AJ, owns Trailergating LLC, a turn-key tailgate service provider in Overland Park, Kan. He lives in Olathe, Kan.

Andrew “Andy” P. Jett ’92, MGMT, is a client account manager at ATI Nursing Education in Leawood, Kan. He lives in Shawnee, Kan.*

Shawn D. Penner ’92, BUS ADM-FIN, ’93 M BUS ADM, who is serving as the 2018-2019 chair of the WSUAA board, is owner and president of Shamrock Development LLC, a real estate development firm he founded in 1997. A resident of Wichita, he is active in the community and on numerous boards – he serves, for example, as a director of Equity Bancshares Inc., First Federal Savings and Loan Bank, and GPV Inc., among others.*

Sheri L. (Wiens) Williamson ’92, ACCT, is a tax and financial analyst for Hinkle Law Firm LLC in Wichita, where she resides.

Juan P. Anzola ’94, ECON, has been chief financial officer for Domus One Group, a Miami-based international development firm, since 2005. He is responsible for overseeing the financial management and planning function of the group and its real estate development activities. He lives in Doral, Fla.

James H. Huang ’94, PHD CHEM, is co-founder and chief executive officer of SunGen Pharma LLC, in Princeton, N.J. He resides in Davie, Fla.

Susan A. (Dumont) Raihala ’94, M ENG, is an adjunct English instructor at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. She has taught at Boise State University, Troy University, Columbus State (Ga.) University and Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College. Raihal lives in Waynesville, Ohio.

Leslie A. (Jacobsen) Maher ’95, SPAN, a U.S. Air Force colonel, is commander of the 375th Air Mobility Wing at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. A Gregory, S.D., native, she enlisted in the Air Force in 1987 and later joined the 184th Fighter Wing, Kansas Air National Guard. She was commissioned through the Officer Training School at Maxwell (Ala.) Air Force Base and now leads more than 3,100 personnel whose mission is to provide aeromedical evacuation for patients, operational support airlift for high priority passengers and cargo, and installation support to 31 mission partners.

Joyce D. (Marks) Randle ’95, NURS, is a member of the short-term health programs faculty at WSU Tech. She lives in Wichita.

Melanie J. (Wheeler) Finn ’96, ACCT, is a seasonal accounting professional with Marrs, Sevier & Company LLC. She previously worked as an accountant with WFH Corp. in Covington, Ga., where she resides.

Lynn S. (Jones) Price ’96, M PT, is market operations manager at NovaCare Rehabilitation in Wichita. She lives in Derby, Kan.

Christopher M. Joseph ’97, POL SCI, an attorney in Joseph, Hollander & Craft LLC’s Topeka offices, was honored by Best Lawyers in America in the Criminal Defense: General Practice area. He represents individuals and businesses during the investigation and prosecution of criminal charges in federal and state courts, as well as complex civil litigation, primarily in federal court. He lives in Lawrence, Kan.

Michael H. Roehrman ’97, COMM, is executive editor of the Wichita Eagle. He began working at the newspaper in 1996 while a student at Wichita State. He helped launch the website that became Kansas.com and has served as copy desk chief, publishing editor, senior editor and digital strategist.

David Sasson ’97, ENTRE, president and CEO of Overstock Art in Wichita, was selected by the Small Business Administration as its Small Business Person of the Year from Kansas in March 2018. He lives in Wichita.

Marjorie “Marjie” A. (Benbow) Anderson ’98, COMM, director of sales and marketing at Tony’s Pizza Events Center, a 7,583-seat multipurpose arena managed by Spectra Venue Management, in Salina, Kan., told the Salina Journal that an internship she held as a WSU student with the Wichita Thunder professional hockey organization sparked her interest in sports and entertainment marketing. “During my internship,” she said, “I loved the atmosphere of a live event – being part of making it happen.” After her internship, her first job was with the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission. Today, her responsibilities include creating social media posts, website management, distributing event information, group ticket sales, luxury box sales and advertising for the event center. Anderson lives in Lindsborg, Kan.

M. Christine “Chris” Mohn ’98, M SPAN, who earned a doctoral degree from the University of Kansas in 2005, is department chair and associate professor of Spanish at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., where she resides.

Christie A. Underwood ’98, SOC WK, is an administrator at LakePoint El Dorado senior living facility in El Dorado, Kan. She previously served as executive director at Legend Senior Living and Brookdale Senior Living. She lives in Wichita.

Megan A. Adams ’99, M P ACCT, is an audit department director for BKD CPAs & Advisors in Wichita. She lives in Andover, Kan.

Theresa “Teri” L. Mott ’99, GEN ST, marketing and communication director at Wichita Festivals, was in the cast of the Wichita Scottish Rite Signature Theatre’s production of The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy during performances Oct. 25-27 in Wichita, where she resides.

Joshua “Josh” W. Oeding ’99, ENTRE, is president and chief executive officer of e2e Accelerator, a nonprofit organization based in Wichita, where he resides. He previously worked as vice president of marketing and strategy at EFT Analytics, an affiliate of Koch Industries, and director of business technology at Wichita Technology Corp.*

Jeremy J. Pauly ’99, NURS, has been named associate administrator at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Pauly, who joined Wesley in 1999 as an emergency medical technician, previously served as director of nursing for Wesley’s main emergency room, the Wesley Pediatric ER and Wesley West ER since 2010 and, in 2016, was promoted to market director of Wesley’s EmergencyCare Network, overseeing all five of Wesley’s emergency rooms. In his new role, he will assist with day-to-day operations of the hospital and be involved in budget planning, staff development and other management functions. He resides in Clearwater, Kan.

Keith E. Tipton ’99, M BUS ADM, is director of operations for Bed Bath & Beyond in Pendergrass, Ga. He resides in Jefferson, Ga.

Seong-Shin Kim ’00, M CI, is an associate professor of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y. She previously served as chair of the TESOL/Bilingual Advanced Certification programs and was an associate professor at Touro College in New York City.

David C. Todd ’00, HSOP, ’02 M PT, is president of Advanced Physical Therapy, which he founded in 2004. He lives in Wichita.

Lunda P. Asmani ’01, M PUB ADM, was appointed budget director for the Town of New Canaan, Conn., last June. Asmani, a certified public finance officer, also holds graduate certificates in economic development and public finance from WSU. He previously served as director of management and budgets for the City of Norwalk, Conn., and was assistant city manager for budget and finance in Newton, Kan., for six years. He resides in Norwalk.

Neal K. Harrington ’01, M ART, an award-winning artist and associate professor of art at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, also serves as director of the school’s Norman Hall Art Gallery. “Printmaking,” Harrington says, “in particular relief, is my primary means of exploration in the visual arts. The content of my work fuses the rich tradition of Greek/Roman mythologies with an American Roots Music perspective.” His work can be found in numerous collections, including the Kyoto (Japan) International Woodprint Association Collection. He lives in Russellville.

Angela C. (Beebe) Malley ’01, ACCT, a senior manager for tax accounting at Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, has been named an experienced leader nominee for a 2018 “Women to Watch” award from the Kansas Society of CPAs. Prior to joining Spirit six years ago, she was a Koch Industries tax controller.

Douglas “Doug” A. Newman ’02, HSOP, has been chief executive officer of LaSalle General Hospital in Alexandria, La., since 2012. He previously was CEO of Graham County Rural Health Clinic, Home Health & Hospice in Hill City, Kan. He lives in Jena, La.

Teresa L. (Edinborough) Nunez ’02, FIN, graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Salina and has entered the Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency Program. Nunez, who worked in the aircraft and oil industries for several years, lives in Salina.

Matthew P. Bogner ’03, PSYCH, ’06 M PUB H, is chief executive officer at the Kansas Masonic Home in Wichita. Bogner, who holds a doctorate in health administration from Central Michigan University, has been with KMH since 2008. He lives in Newton, Kan.

Edward “Eddy” L. Brotemarkle ’03, BUS ADM-MKT, a litigation information technology specialist at Koch Industries in Wichita, serves on the WSUAA board of directors. He also is a food blogger at WichitaByEB.com, where he writes in his introduction: “Since 2011, over 350 restaurants and establishments have been covered. I started writing because I thought it would be nice to have another option out there for people to read reviews of establishments and restaurants in this city. I came across too many sugarcoated views of what a restaurant or business may be like. My goal is to give a good honest unbiased review of a place… I’m just another Wichitan looking for the best that Wichita has to offer.”*

Christopher A. Rea ’03, HSOP, is director of operations for Foundation Properties Corporation, a senior care services company in Wichita, where he resides.

Christina M. (Woods) Long ’03, COMM, owner of CML Collective LLC in Wichita, was honored by the Kansas Department of Commerce’s Office of Minority and Women Business Development as its Minority Business Advocate of the Year. Long received the award during Kansas Minority Enterprise Development Week, the department’s annual celebration of minority and women entrepreneurs. She lives in Wichita.

Roy R. Mansch ’03, ENG, who has 14 years of commercial and retail banking experience, is vice president of branch operations for Credit Union of America, a position in which he is responsible for about half of CUA’s 14 retail offices in Kansas. He lives in Wichita.

Melissa C. (Jackson) McPherson ’03, PSYCH, ’08 M SOC WK, is executive director at Via Christi HOPE, a comprehensive program of health care and support-based services for the elderly. She lives in Wichita.

Karla N. (Campbell) Wilcox ’03, MKT, is director of business development at Scott Rice Office Works in Manhattan, Kan., where she lives. She previously worked as furniture product manager at Eakes Office Solutions in Grand Island, Neb.*

Thomas “Tommy” L. Hottovy II ’04, FIN, has been promoted to pitching coach for Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs. Hottovy, who pitched at WSU from 2001-04 and played professionally for the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals, was an advanced scout and run prevention coordinator for the Cubs.

Brady G. Simmons ’04, HIST, is a master police officer with the Haysville (Kan.) Police Department. He lives in Haysville.*

Anand R. Chhajed ’05, M IE, is director of operations and supply chain at OPW, a Dover Co., in Cincinnati. He previously worked as director of operations and director of supply chain at Civacon in Kansas City, Mo.

Melissa (Rodriguez) Gattenby ’05, ANTHRO, was promoted to operations automation manager by Credit Union of America in Wichita. The position was created to lead and assist in the implementation of new front-line technology. Gattenby previously was a branch manager at CUA’s Delano office in Wichita.

Augustine J. Iacopelli ’06, M BUS ADM, who serves as director of Wichita State’s WSU West campus, opened Augustino Brewing Co. in November 2017. Iacopelli says that he used “multiple WSU and community resources to help establish and build my business, including the Kansas Small Business Development Center and the Center for Entrepreneurship. I’ve also leveraged the resources at GoCreate to help build the tap handles we use at Augustino Brewing and in the community at the bars and restaurants we distribute to. We’ve also started a project to recycle old pallet boards into artwork by taking our guests’ drawings, signatures, sayings and other creative and laser etching them into the boards at GoCreate, for mounting to our walls as decor.” After being closed for reorganization this past September, Augustino Brewing reopened in late October. Iacopelli, who also teaches meteorology at Wichita State, resides in Wichita.*

James D. Blakemore ’07, CHEM, ’07 SPAN, is an assistant professor of chemistry at the University of Kansas. Previously, Blakemore, who attended Wichita State as a recipient of the WSUAA-administered “Drive Your Pride” Kansas License Plate Scholarship program, earned a doctorate in chemistry at Yale University and was a post-doctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology. In 2011, he and Francis D’Souza, WSU chemistry professor, as well as four other authors, submitted their “Distinguishing Homogeneous from Heterogeneous Catalysis in Electrode-Driven Water Oxidation with Molecular Iridium Complexes” to the Journal of the American Chemical Society. Daniel “Dan” D. Umscheid ’07, BUS ADM, who most recently served as assistant vice president of support services for Credit Union of America (which has 14 full-service Kansas locations in Wichita, Derby, Goddard, Hutchinson, Pratt and Great Bend) has taken on the additional duty of overseeing CUA’s TAP Teller Center Manager, a new offering that serves members remotely via intelligent ATMs. He resides in Wichita.

Michael D. Schrage ’10, M PUB A, was voted unanimously by the Salina City Commission in December 2018 to become the city’s next manager, continuing his 13 years of pubic service in Salina, Kan., where he had served as deputy city manager and then, since June 2018, interim city manager. His previous public sector experience includes 12 years as city administrator in Smithville, Mo. Schrage, who also holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northeast Missouri State University, resides in Salina.

Jordan P. Walker ’10, COMM-INT MKT, digital director at the Wichita-based aviation-specialty marketing agency Greteman Group, has been named “One to Watch” by the WSU Elliott School of Communcation. The recognition is for “alumni who are doing tremendous work in their first 10 years after graduation.” Walker joined Greteman Group in 2015, and her efforts help the agency leverage analytics on everything from programmatic advertising and email campaigns to search-engine optimization and social-media management. Antonio S. Martinez ’14, ART-CERAMICS, who also holds a master’s degree in fine arts from the University of Kansas, teaches at the Lawrence Art Center in Lawrence, Kan. As an artist who works in clay, he says he was especially intrigued and inspired by tools and other items in his father’s shop: “The tools there looked like they had lived multiple lifetimes. I’m really attracted to objects that have history. Things that are old, dirty, used and abused. Objects that show their history on their surfaces.” Martinez’s artworks were on display in the Klik Ceramic Art Exhibition, which ran from Dec. 14, 2018 to Jan. 13, 2019, at the Hutchinson Art Center in Hutchinson, Kan.

Alexandre “Alex” D. Castaneda ’16, MUS THEA, was the lead actor in the Topeka (Kan.) Civic Theatre and Academy’s production of “Elf the Musical,” which was the community theater’s annual holiday performance for 2018. As a TCT performer, Castaneda has not only previously acted in a number of roles, including as Cat in the Hat in TCT’s 2017 production of “Seussical,” but also choreographed the 2017 junior version of TCT’s “Elf the Musical.” He is a former ticketing associate for Music Theatre Wichita.
