Director's Corner

BY BRAD S. BEETS ’87

Wichita State’s campus continues to grow and change, despite tough economic times.

Construction on Charles Koch Arena is on schedule and creating a dynamic new view on the northeast side of campus.

If you’re interested in the progress, but haven’t had a chance to see the work so far, visit www.goshockers.com and check out the daily construction pictures.

The university also has announced plans for the Marcus Welcome Center, a beautiful point of entry for prospective students, their parents and alumni. This facility will be the home for the Office of Admissions and also will provide meeting space for alumni events. In addition, the large lobby will feature the history of WSU as told through all kinds of Shocker memorabilia plus both old and new audio-visual documents about the university and its alumni.

As alumni of Fairmount College, the University of Wichita and Wichita State, we hope you will play a key role in completing the story-telling power this memorabilia can have on future students and fellow alumni. We ask that you check your closets and attics for Shocker memorabilia, films and videos that you would be willing to donate to the alumni association. Contact us at (888) 316-2586. Your involvement with this project will help ensure and share our Shocker Pride with past, present and future Thinkers, Doers, Movers and Shockers.
