Robert Elmore into WSU's Shocker Sports Hall of Fame.
Elmore is the 29th men's basketball player or coach to
be so honored.

Six Wichita State sports greats were inducted into the Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame during a ceremony at halftime of WSU's Jan. 18 home game against Indiana State.

The addition of this year's Class of 2014 brings the total of former coaches and student-athletes in the Hall of Fame to 130. There are also 12 at-large selections.

The Hall of Fame's newest members are Todd Dreifort, baseball (1989-92); Lynn Duncan, football (1967-69); Robert Elmore, basketball (1974-77); Lisa Hodgson, basketball (1980-84); Jason Perez, basketball (1997-2000); and Joe Stevens, basketball (1955-58).

"It's tremendous when you have a loved one recognized, particularly by an institution like Wichita State," said Len Elmore, a former NBA player who broadcasts basketball for ESPN and CBS, about the induction of his brother, Robert Elmore, who died in 1977 at the age of 23.

Robert, from Jamaica, N.Y., averaged 14.1 points and 12.4 rebounds in four seasons at Wichita State.

He is second on WSU's career list with 1,039 rebounds, 132 blocks and an average of 12.4 rebounds.
