Shocker Doctor Joins KC/MO's MAVI

Marcus A. Barber ’02 studied biological sciences and biochemistry at Wichita State, where he was active on campus as a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and the Student Ambassador Society. In 2002, he was recognized as a Senior Honor Man.

After graduating from WSU, he pursued a medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and served a general surgery residency at the University of Kansas-Wichita campus. He was accepted into the Vascular Fellowship program at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, which is nationally recognized in the vascular field, and then honed his skills in multiple advanced vascular techniques for three years at the largest vascular surgery practice in Knoxville, Tenn.

This September, Dr. Barber, who is certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery, joined Kansas City’s Midwest Aortic & Vascular Institute (MAVI), the largest independent vascular surgery practice in the area. He practices primarily at MAVI’s Independence, Mo., office – and has surgical credentials at 12 Kansas City area hospitals.
