Wichita State physics professor Nickolas Solomey, working with physics grad student Caleb Gimar, has come up with an innovative concept that just might revolutionize the way scientists study the sun.
Solomey’s research — which has won one of NASA’s coveted Innovation and Advanced Concept Awards — focuses on the creation of spacecraft and neutrino-detector technology capable of operating close to the sun so that the sun’s solar interior can be better understood.
