Carl J. Gerbrandt ’63, M MUS ED, professor of voice and director of opera theater at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colo., served as a visiting fellow of Wolfson College at Cambridge University in England for the spring 2004 term. In 2002, Gerbrandt received the University of Northern Colorado Academic Excellence Award for Teaching Excellence in Graduate Education. The author of Sacred Music Drama, the scholar’s most recent research has been on American composer, Louis Cheslock. Gerbrandt resides in Greeley.

Paul Crabb ’78, M MUS P, professor of music at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., has received a $10,000 Walker and Doris Allen Fellowship for Faculty Excellence award for his outstanding contributions to the university. In 1997, he was awarded the Missouri Educator of the Year award, and in 1998, he was named Missouri Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Betty M. (Boys) Drees ’79, BIOL, is dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Drees, who served as interim dean since 2001, is credited with strengthening relationships with a number of the university’s community partners, including Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Western Missouri Mental Health Center. Esther L. Headley ’79, MKT, ’80 M BUS A, is co-owner and president of Wichita-based Research Partnership Inc., a company that examines consumer habits. Interviewed by a Wichita Business Journal reporter in April, she noted that the war in Iraq had the potential to affect consumer spending. “Some people hold back when we’re going through trying times,” she said.
