Earl R. Keener ’47, AERON E, retired aerodynamic research engineer, has received a Certificate of Membership for 60 years in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. His career featured 14 years at NASA's Flight Research Center at Edwards, Calif., and 29 years at the Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, Calif. The author and co-author of more than 50 research papers in the field of aircraft aerodynamics, Keener lives in Santa Clara, Calif.

Laurice J. Hunter ’55, PE, retired volleyball coach at Evergreen, Colo., High School, was inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. She resides in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

Dwight Beckman Sr. ’57, MUS ED, ’58 M MUS ED, plays with the Wichita Wind Ensemble Professional Band. At age 77, the trumpeter and retired music teacher is the oldest member of the group. A resident of Lost Springs, Kan., Beckman also is in his 40th season with the Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra and has been inducted into both the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame and the Kansas Music Educators’ Association Hall of Fame.

Lonnie L. Snook ’64, I ED, has been elected to the Butler Community College Foundation board of directors and lives in Wichita.

Judith (Morgenstern) Barzilay ’65, ENG, is a federal judge with the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York. She lives in North Bergen, N.J.

Jane P. (Pennington) Gamber ’67, SEC ED, is an adjunct developmental English instructor at Hutchinson Community College. She lives in Hutchinson, Kan.

Barbara C. (Bunting) McCalla ’67, MUS ED, ’71, M MUS ED, is among the 2009 class of Kansas Master Teachers, an honor presented by Emporia State University each year to veteran teachers who have proven effective on the job. The award-winning elementary teacher lives in Augusta, Kan.*

William H. Watson ’67, MUS ED, has been appointed to the Texas Emancipation Juneteenth Cultural and Historical Commission, which coordinates local and state activities relating to the cultural and historical celebration of Juneteenth. Watson is pastor and bishop of the Church of God in Christ and pastor of Agage Temple Church of God in Christ. He lives in Lubbock, Texas.*

Brent A. Berry ’68, BUS ADM, is a business development officer for Bank of the West in Olathe, Kan. He is a resident of Olathe.

Peter Goletz ’68, ECON, is financial advisor and associate vice president of investments at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. in Madison, Conn. He resides in Guilford, Conn.*

Jean M. (Harris) Graber ’68, EL ED, is part of a Kansas documentary about polio survivors called “Epidemic! Survivors’ Spirit.” She is a retired teacher and a resident of Pretty Prairie, Kan.

John H. Youle ’68, SOC, ’68 ANTHRO, a licensed architect in the state of Kansas since 1980, is a project manager at Krehbiel Architecture in Wichita, where he lives.

Vincent C. Nealey ’69, HIST, has retired as chief of the Administrative Law Division at Fort Knox, Ky., after 34 years of federal service. He resides in Elizabethtown, Ky.

Raymond R. “Ray” Dorsett ’69, BIO SCI, ’82 M COMM, is national marketing manager at Pratt Industries Packaging Systems, which provides 100 percent recycled materials for packaging. Dorsett is a Wichita resident.

Curtis W. Demuth ’70, BUS ADM, is finance director at Spirit AeroSystems. He lives in Wichita.*

Robert D. Harris ’70, MUS ED, ’82 M EAS, teaches at Oswego, Kan., public schools. He has some 36 years of experience as an educator, with 14 of those in the field of music education. He lives in Oswego.

Murray D. Lull ’70, BUS ADM, has retired as owner of Smith County State Bank and Trust Co. after a 36-year career in banking. He lives in Smith Center, Kan.

David M. Rapp ’70, PSYCH, has been selected for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America 2009” by Best Lawyers. He is with Hinkle Elkouri Law Firm LLC and lives in Wichita.

Florianne L. (Staatz) Woods ’70, SEC ED, a Derby, Kan., High School world language teacher, has received a $2,000 grant from the ING financial services company for a program that sends high school students into elementary schools to teach conversational French and Spanish. She lives in Mulvane, Kan.

Donald F. Racine ’71, PE, has won his 500th game as head coach of Bishop Carroll High School girls’ basketball team. He is a Wichita resident.

David J. Bernstorf ’72, AERON E, is vice president for safety and certification at Hawker Beechcraft Corp. He resides in Wichita.*

Nellie M. Graber ’72, SEC ED, ’74 M ED PSYCH, is assistant professor of special education at Associated Colleges of Cental Kansas in McPherson, Kan. She lives in McPherson.*

Mary L. Herrin ’72, ACCT, ’76 M ACCT, vice president for administration and finance at WSU, has been elected second vice president of the Central Association of College and University Business Officers. She lives in Wichita.*

Paul A. Schroeder ’72, BIO SCI, ’75 M BIO SCI, is vice president of Nomerel in Tulsa, Okla. He lives Jenks, Okla.*

Carolyn K. (Sears) Morton ’73, BUS ADM, is vice president of the Greensburg State Bank in Greensburg, Kan., where she resides.

Charles E. Roberts ’73, AJ, is an associate district judge with the state of Oklahoma in Marietta, Okla., where he lives. 

Muriel K. (Wining) Slater ’73, MUS ED INST, is a certified music practitioner employed by the St. Francis Campus of the Via Christi Regional Medical Center of Wichita, where she plays the flute to help relieve patient stress and anxiety. Slater also works as a secretary in support of the nursing administration staff at St. Francis. She resides in Wichita.

Larry G. Staton ’73, BUS ADM, is a financial consultant at LPL Financial. He lives in Wichita.*

Richard N. Yadon ’73, ECON, is financial examiner administrator with the Kansas Department of Credit Unions. He is a resident of Lawrence, Kan.

Arlan R. Yoder ’73, ACCT, who recently retired after 26 years at Via Christi Health System in Wichita, is planned giving advisor at Hesston College in Hesston, Kan., where he resides.

Patrick L. Ireland ’74, SEC ED, ’79 M SPG, is a guidance counselor at Stucky Middle School in Wichita. He lives in Wichita.

Max M. Menges ’74, ACCT, who retired from facilities management for the Kansas Department of Administration in August 2008, now is serving as Master of Orient Lodge No. 51, AF&AM, Topeka, Kan. He lives in Topeka.*

John S. Myers ’74, ACCT, former vice president of Raytheon Aircraft Credit Corp., is senior vice president at AeroCentury Corp., an independent aircraft leasing firm. He lives in Wellington, Kan.

Dale K. Baalman ’76, ACCT, is CFO at House of Schwan Inc. in Wichita, where he lives.

Kelly A. Carpenter ’76, ACCT, is finance director with the city of Wichita. She is a resident of Goddard, Kan.

Edwin H. Cooper ’76, HC ADM, is president and chief executive officer of the Austin-based Acuity Healthcare Management Corp. He lives in Austin, Texas.*

Karen L. (Page) Everhart ’76, BIO SCI, ’89, M PE, is executive director and co-founder of Rainbow Meadows Rescue Equine Rescue and Retirement Inc., a facility for abused, neglected or abandoned horses as well as sponsored retired horses. She lives in Sedan, Kan.

Daniel R. McClure ’76, AJ, a Wichita Fire Department shift commander, has been a firefighter for over 30 years. He lives in Wichita.

Michael E. “Mike” McKenna ’76, AJ CERT, ’78 AJ, ’83 M AJ, is police chief in Baldwin City, Kan., where he lives.

Kaylynn L. (Lambke) Smith ’76, SEC ED, ’91 M COUNS, is director of curriculum and public information office for Winfield, Kan., public schools. She lives in Rose Hill, Kan.

David L. Benson ’77, EAS, who previously served for 17 years as superintendent in public school districts in Kansas and at Fort Madison, Iowa, is district superintendent for Cedar Rapids, Iowa, public schools. He is a resident of Frontenac, Mo.

Mary B. (Sanders) Steiner ’77, NURS, ’86 M COUNS, is director of education for Hospice Care of Kansas in Wichita, where she resides.

Carolyn M. Corbett ’78, MUS P, a freelance flutist, volunteers, along with her canine partner Caitee, in the Westminster, Colo., Police Department’s Canine Assisted Reduction of Eventful Stress (CARES) program. Corbett first trained Caitee, a golden retriever, as an advanced therapy dog, working with people who have had strokes or other major ailments. Corbett and Caitee live in Denver, Colo.

Ruth E. Wetta-Hall ’78, NURS, ’92 M NURS, ’04 PhD pysch, an assistant professor of preventive medicine and public health at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, serves as vice chair of the department. She lives in Wichita.

Betty A. (Williams) Gissendanner ’79, M NURS, is president of the Charlotte County Democratic Club in Pt. Charlotte, Fla., where she lives.

Carol A. (Kroening) Keller ’79, PT, is a physical therapist in Derby, Kan., where she lives.*

Robert E. Kennedy ’79, ACCT, is CFO of Apthera Inc. and serves as treasurer and board member for AZ Bio. He has co-founded three biotechnology firms (Apthera, Virionics Corp. and GenBioPro Inc.), as well as Alare Capital Partners LLC, an investment banking concern, and Energy Design Group Engineering LLC, a commercial and residential energy solutions consulting firm. He lives in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Michael D. Vinson ’79, URB A, ’80 M URB A, is director of Wichita Transit. He lives in Wichita.

Susan M. (Crawshaw) Bane ’80, S ART/P, owns Chiart Studio & Gallery, located in Wichita’s Delano district. The gallery offers frescoes, faux finishing, fine arts, workshops and classes. She is a Wichita resident.*

Leigh A. Leighton-Wallace ’80, S ART/PR, ’96 M S ART/PR, artist and printmaker, had her works displayed at Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. She is a resident of Shell Knob, Mo.

James A. “Jim” Means ’80, PE, ’82 M PE, is district director of secondary career and technical education for Wichita public schools. He resides in Wichita.

Grant P. Rine ’80, PHYS, ’82 M PHYS, is director of radiation oncology at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where he lives.

Robin M. “Robb” Rose ’80, RT, is director of rehabilitation at Via Christi Health System’s Our Lady of Lourdes, an inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation center. She lives in Wichita.*

Craig A. Yaryan ’80, BUS ADM, is president of the Kansas Association of Mortgage Professionals. He lives in El Dorado, Kan.

Monica S. (Haury) Flask ’81, SOC WK, is director of programs at the Central Plains Regional Health Care Foundation, where she will manage project access and enhance care management for Sedgwick County. She lives in Wichita.

Shelly K. (Kennedy) Hill ’81, EL ED, ’06 M CI, is a primary teacher at Norwich Elementary School in Norwich, Kan. She lives in El Dorado, Kan.

Stephanie A. (Boyer) Mann ’81, ENG, ’86 M ENG, an ethics and compliance specialist at Cessna Aircraft Co. in Wichita, has had her book Supremacy and Survival: How Catholics Endured the English Reformation published by Scepter Publishers Inc. She lives in Wichita.

Marcia A. (Cushing) Williamson ’81, MUS ED, ’03 M SP ED, teaches autistic children at East High School in Wichita. She lives in Wichita.

David M. Franson ’82, COMM, is executive director of the Wichita Aero Club, an aviation networking and business organization. He lives in Andover, Kan.

Kenneth Gebhart Jr. ’82, MGT, is head of Wichita-based Celestaire Inc., which exports sextants and corresponding manuals for sea and air navigation. He lives in Wichita.

Dennis D. “Dewey” Leierer ’82, IE, is a senior manufacturing engineer specialist with Cessna Aircraft Co. He is a Wichita resident.

Dan C. Peare ’82, BUS ADM, ’85 M FIN, has been selected for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America 2009” by Best Lawyers. An attorney with Hinkle Elkouri LLC in Wichita, he chairs the law firm’s trusts and estates practice group. He lives in Wichita.*

Duane W. Smith ’82, BUS ADM, leads the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition’s research department and performs research and analysis in support of economic development and other initiatives. He is a resident of Wichita.

Rose M. (Chop) Powell ’83, M NURS, is an assistant professor at the Richard and Lucille DeWitt School of Nursing at the Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She lives in Hemphill, Texas.

Mark F. Schroeder ’85, BUS ADM, chairman of Terracon Consultants Inc., Wichita, also serves as chair of Kansans for a Great Lake Inc., a nonprofit corporation formed with the mission of promoting a new multipurpose public lake in south central Kansas. He lives in Derby, Kan.*

Cheryl (Beard) Shaffer ’85, BUS ADM, is revenue cycle director at Via Christi Health System in Wichita. She resides in Udall, Kan.

Arthur “A. Jay” Steinberg ’85, MUS P, band director, music teacher at Lindsborg, Kan., Middle School, is the Outstanding Middle School Music Educator for the South Central District of the Kansas Music Educators Association. He lives in Lindsborg.

Connie D. (Dumenil) Bonfy ’86, M ART ED, is director of arts and humanities for the Salina Arts and Humanities Commission in Salina, Kan. She resides in Salina.

Robert D. Hannigan ’86, AJ, former Kansas State Honor Camps and Kansas State Industrial Reformatory (now Hutchinson Correctional Facility) warden, is author of A Forty Year Journey in Corrections, published by Mass Media Distribution LLC. He resides in Hutchinson, Kan.

Kevin May fs ’86, owner of Kevin May Music in Wichita, is a professional musician who has played saxophone with the Blues Brothers Band and soul singer Wilson Pickett. He lives in Wichita.

John A. Pilla ’86, BUS ADM, Spirit AeroSystems senior vice president, chief technology officer, has won the International Association of Administrative Professionals 2008 Executive of the Year Award.*

Kim A. Breitenback ’87, ED PSYCH, is a social studies teacher at Andover, Kan., Central Middle School. She resides in Wichita.

Holly A. Dyer ’87, SOC SCI, ’88 JOURN, attorney and partner with Foulston Siefkin LLP in Wichita, serves on the Wichita Bar Association Board of Governors. She lives in Wichita.

Michael D. Ferguson ’87, H SCI, teaches CPR and other lifesaving techniques with Lifesaver Learning, an organization he founded in 1990. He lives in Wichita.

M. Todd Hanchett ’87, AJ, serves as undersheriff for Harvey, Kan., County. A Newton, Kan., Police Department sergeant with more than 20 years of experience, he helped create the Newton bicycle patrol and is a founding member of the Harvey County Emergency Response Team. He is a Newton resident.

Bonnie J. Schwartz ’87, M POL SCI, ’89 EL E, is director of operations performance at Invista in Wichita. She is a resident of Andover, Kan.

Carol L. Pulliam ’88, FLD MJR, is general manager of the Georgia Tech Cable Network at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where she lives.

Grant A. Rowe ’88, COMM, is president of the Valor Companies, a group of companies that includes Valor HospiceCare & PalliativeCare, Valor Health Service and Valor Ventures. He lives in Tucson, Ariz.

Michael A. Ryan-Wenger ’88, MUS P, is a freelance musician, composer and tenor who sings with the Lionheart Vocal Ensemble based in New York City. He lives in Jersey City, N.J.

Brian W. Weide ’88, BUS ADM, is senior vice president at Citizens Bank & Trust in Gladstone, Mo. He resides in Kansas City, Mo.*

Franklin D. Bósquez ’89, M COMM, professor of communications at the University of Panama’s College of Social Communication, also serves as communication counselor at the Supreme Court of Justice in Panama City, Panama, where he lives.*

Eileen L. (Turner) Copple ’89, M EAS, former classroom teacher with 16 years of experience in school administration, is headmistress at the Agathos School of Columbia, Tenn. In 2001, Copple was the Baltimore County Elementary School Principal of the Year.

Saeid Mirsafian ’89, AERON E, ’91, M AERON E, is special counsel at Christie, Parker & Hale LLP, one of Southern California’s leading intellectual property law firms. Mirsafian, who focuses on patent prosecution, practices out of the firm’s office in Newport Beach, where he lives.

Carlos J. Nolla-Corretjer ’89, PSYCH, is an attorney who practices in the areas of immigration and naturalization, citizenship, deportation, investor visas, and permanent visas with the Wichita law firm of Klenda, Mitchel, Austerman & Zuercher LLC. He lives in Wichita.

Kirsten A. (Volbrecht) Nyberg ’89, GEN ST, is an American Red Cross Midway-Kansas Chapter donor recruitment representative who works with businesses, churches and other groups to sponsor blood drives. She is a Wichita resident.

John P. Ernatt ’90, GEN ST, an artist whose style of painting has been described as “figurative and painterly,” co-owns the Diver Studio in Wichita, where he lives.

William J. Luebbers ’90, H SCI, a Hoisington, Kan., resident, physician assistant and U.S. Navy veteran, is serving as a civilian PA at Camp AS-Sayliyah Army Base in Doha, Qatar.

Aaron M. Davis ’91, AJ, former Kansas boxing commissioner, is commissioner of the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board. Davis, a former Wichita State basketball player and admissions representative, lives in Willingboro, N.J.

Tracy A. Herron ’91, MUS P, teaches private voice lessons, is a member of the Dallas Opera and is choir director at Lakehill Preparatory School in Dallas, where he resides.

Jennifer K. (Peters) Holtz ’91, GERON, is an assistant professor at DePaul University’s college for adult learners, The School for New Learning. She lives in Fox River Grove, Ill.

Wendell E. Nicholson ’92, AJ, is a detective and polygraph examiner with the Wichita Police Department. He lives in Wichita.

Janice P. Crowley ’93, M SCI ED, who teaches advanced placement chemistry at Wichita Collegiate High School, has won the national Siemens Award for Advanced Placement. She resides in Wichita.

Randy L. Ervin ’93, H SCI, director of services at Maude Carpenter Children’s Home, has been recognized in the Cambridge Who’s Who registry for dedication, leadership and excellence in nonprofit management. He lives in Rose Hill, Kan.

Veronica L. (Williams) Kwareh ’93, ACCT, ’05 FLD MJR, is senior account manager for Sarah L. Kerley Inc. in Marina Del Rey, Calif. She resides in Los Angeles, Calif.

Alan R. Martin ’93, GEN ST, is regional vice president of the Mid Atlantic region of Ferrellgas LP in Liberty, Mo.*

Sheila M. (Moore) Northcutt ’93, ACCT, ’98 M ACCT, is a senior accountant at Galichia Medical Group in Wichita. She resides in Goddard, Kan.

Janice (Gundy) Penner ’93, EL ED, is the librarian at Earhart Environmental Magnet Elementary School in Wichita, where she lives.

Thomas D. Reynolds ’93, ENG, assistant professor of English at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan., has had his poem, “Venison,” appear in The New Verse News, a poetry blog. Ghost Town Almanac, a collection of his poems that trace the history of Kansas, has been published by Woodley Memorial Press of Washburn University, Topeka, Kan. Reynolds resides in Paola, Kan.

Greta L. Semsroth ’93, PE, is an officer with the Wichita Police Department. She lives in Wichita.

David S. Weaver ’93, BUS ADM, owns Career 1 Source, a division of Kansas Ag 1 Source, a human resource placement service in Hesston, Kan., where he resides.
