President's Message

BY ESTHER HEADLEY '79/80

Congratulations, Award Winners!

As you can see, this issue of WSU Alumni News (January/February 1997)  is dedicated to our alumni association award recipients — those individuals who have been selected for recognition by your association because of their achievements and contributions to the university.

I would like to extend my personal congratulations to each of the winners: Pete Armstrong, George Fahnestock, Dr. Michael Tilford, La Vona Spencer and Brian Wells. Without the dedication and hard work each of these individuals has given to WSU, we wouldn't be what we are today. On a personal note, Michael Tilford, who passed away Nov. 6, 1996, was a 15-year friend of mine. In all of my interactions with him, he was fair, kind and a true professional. He will be greatly missed. I extend my condolences to his wife, Marilyn, and his children.

To honor all of our award winners, please join us at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, (1997) in the CAC Ballroom.

The excitement never ends! Just days after the awards banquet, we'll be heading out to St. Louis on the Shocker Hellraiser Bus Trip to catch the basketball action at the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, Feb. 28-March 3.
