Richard E. Strange ’50, MUS ED, Arizona State University professor emeritus of music and director of bands, is music director and conductor with the Tempe Symphony Orchestra. In the past several years, he has conducted, judged or presented music clinics in Austria, Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Guam, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States. He lives in Tempe, Ariz.

Darlene J. (Edson) Bealmear ’61, MUS ED, a retired elementary school music teacher with 26 years of experience, teaches piano at the Rockwall School of Music. She resides in Rockwall, Texas.

E. Leon Johnston Jr. ’63, CHEM, who has more than 40 years of experience in the chlor-alkali industry, is a consultant with Harriman Chemsult LC. He lives in Birmingham, Ala.*

Richard K. Pemberton ’64, HIST, is a management analyst for the U.S. Department of State, a post he has held since 2003 when he retired from the U.S. Department of Transportation as associate director of administrative policy. He lives in Enfield, United Kingdom, and works on assignment in Jordan, Dubai and Baghdad.*

Raymond L. Patterson ’66, PE, ’90 M EAS, Pawnee Heights athletic director, has received the Kansas State High School Activities Association Governor’s Award for his expertise in developing students and student-athletes in the classroom and on the field. He resides in Burdett, Kan.*

Pamela (Tellejohn) Hayes ’68, MUS ED, is an adjunct instructor of violin at Columbia College in Columbia, S.C. She lives in Lexington, S.C.

John P. Sample ’68, SEC ED, a former Army officer with service as an infantry and counterintelligence advisor and as a counterintelligence operative and member of the general staff of the U.S. Army South in Latin America, teaches history and political science at Rogers State University in Claremore, Okla., where he resides.

George R. Dean ’69, M EE, serves on the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions. A former Kansas state representative, he is retired from Beech Aircraft’s missile system division. He lives in Wichita.

Bruce R. Erickson fs ’69, former associate vice president for university communications and marketing at California Sate University, Fullerton, is now director of communications at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He lives in Rio Hondo, Texas.

Anthony S. “Steve” Murillo ’70, S ART/P, ’73 M S ART/PR, an artist well known for his many public art works, has painted a 60-ft. wall mural of religious imagery, commissioned by the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wichita, where he lives.

Kent B. Rising ’70, ACCT, is an Internal Revenue Service estate tax attorney. He works in Fort Worth and resides in Arlington, Texas.*

Nancy S. (Hewitt) Sidenstucker ’70, MUS ED, is instrumental music director at Heritage United Methodist Church in Overland Park, Kan. She resides in Prairie Village, Kan.

L. Elvin Ambler ’71, PSYCH, ’71 JOURN, is vice president of business development at BY Diamond IP. He lives in Los Gatos, Calif.*

Larry D. Dall ’71, BUS ADM, is a chiropractor at Chiropractic Natural Health Care in Manhattan, Kan., where he lives.

Lawrence E. “Larry” Damm ’71, ACCT, ’78 M ACCT, of Cessna Employees Credit Union, has been elected chair of the Kansas Credit Union Association Board. He resides in Wichita.*

Paul B. Harrison ’71, BIO SCI, a physician board-certified in critical care and surgery, is medical director of trauma services at Wesley Medical. He resides in Wichita.*

Michael A. James ’71, POL SCI, is president of Elmhurst, Ill.,-based Accredo Therapeutics, a division of Accredo Health Group Inc. James lives in Chicago, Ill.*

Kathryn V. “Kay” Kirtley ’71, MUS ED, teaches orchestra at Irving Middle School in Norman, Okla., where she lives.

Robert T. McFadden ’71, MUS ED, professor of music at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, has been named the Music Teachers National Association Foundation Fellow from Oklahoma. He lives in Durant, Okla.

Bruce W. Anderson ’72, ACCT, ’76 M ACCT, is treasurer and vice president of finance at Preferred Physicians Medical in Shawnee Mission, Kan. He lives in Overland Park, Kan.

Robert A. Downs ’72, POL SCI, is an assistant commonwealth attorney in Page County, Va. He resides in Luray, Va. 

R. Kirk Elliott ’72, EE, a physician of osteopathic medicine and board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, practices with Clinical Gastroenterology Inc., Canton, Ohio. He lives in Canton.

Luis T. Garcia ’72, PSYCH, professor of psychology at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, Camden campus, has taught at Rutgers for 23 years. He resides in Berlin, N.J.

George L. Peterson Jr. ’72, ANTHRO, is vice president of operations at Integrated Media Measurement Inc. in San Mateo, Calif. He lives in Walnut Creek, Calif.

James M. Posey ’72, HIST, is general manager of Anchorage Municipal Light and Power. He lives in Anchorage, Alaska.*

Thomas J. Futo ’73, ECON, along with his wife Kyle ’02, owns Futo Wines. Their vineyard is located in the western hills of the Oakville Appellation in Napa Valley, Calif. Their first release, a cabernet-based 2005 vintage, received a 96 rating from Wine Spectator. The Futos have homes in California and Wichita.

James “Jim” N. Harrington ’73, MCH E, ’73 EE, is principal engineer at Nelson Engineering. He is a resident of Pleasanton, Calif.*

William R. Hebb ’73, ACCT, who has been involved in the international fitness industry for more than 20 years, jointly owns Hebb E-Bikes, a Chinese-made electric bicycle business based in Tyler, Texas, where he resides.*

Jeffrey B. Hurt ’73, BIO SCI, is special counsel at Foulston Siefkin LLP Employment Law Group. Hurt has more than 19 years of experience in a broad range of employment, labor and human resources-related matters. He resides in Wichita.*

Balbir S. Mathur fs ’73, president of Trees for Life International, has headed a book drive that resulted in 50,000 books being collected and sent to children in Liberia in order to assist them in learning how to read. He lives in Wichita.

Stephen “Steve” C. Anderson ’74, BIO, ’74 MATH, ’77 M SEC ED, is strategic account manager at Pratt Industries in Wichita, where he lives.*

Duffy D. Doyle ’74, AJ, ’81 M AJ, is a lieutenant with the Wichita Police Department. He lives in Wichita.

Leslie “Les” A. Eck ’74, BUS ADM, is owner and president of Rusty Eck Ford. The Wichita Ford dealership is one of just 19 in the country to earn the automaker’s Triple Crown award. Only dealerships that win the President’s Award, the Premier Award and reach national top-100-sales status receive the award. Eck lives in Wichita.

Deborah “Debbie” I. (Spencer) Jones ’74, MATH ED, is assistant manager at FlightSafety’s Hawker Beechcraft Learning Center in Wichita, where she resides.

Patricia A. Randleas ’74, PSYCH, is the market coordinator at the Old Town Farmers’ Market in Wichita, where she lives.

Gary L. Reynolds ’74, M EAS, is superintendent of Scottsbluff, Neb., public schools. He lives in Scottsbluff.

Carolyn A. (Risely) Hill ’74, SOC WK, is executive director of Starkey Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides housing, training and other services for the developmentally disabled in Wichita. She lives in Wichita.

Richard A. Stewart ’74, ACCT, is vice president of professional services at Minneapolis-based Fair Isaac Corp. His responsibilities include leading global consulting and delivery services. He resides in Castle Rock, Colo.*

Michael “Mike” D. Warren ’74, ACCT, a partner at Tatum LLC, is working on assignment as interim cfo for Burton Snowboards in Burlington, Vt. He resides in Newport, R.I.*

Dwight F. Williams ’74, AJ, is director of corporate tax at Methodist Health Systems in Dallas, where he lives.*

Robert “Bob” D. Brazil ’75, ACCT, city of Abilene, Kan., planning commissioner, also serves as board president of the Kansas Hospital Human Resources Association. He lives in Abilene.

Charles H. Cope ’75, BIO SCI, ’81 M BIO SCI, is a Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks district biologist. He lives in Wichita.

James R. Garrett ’75, PSYCH, ’75 SOC, is vice president of special projects at Rainbows United Inc. in Wichita, where he resides.

Jeffrey F. Hund ’75, PSYCH, is president of All Seasons Construction Inc. in Wichita, where he lives.*

Delmer J. Mau ’75, M EAS, teaches 5th grade and science to grades 3 through 5 at Cross of Christ Christian School in Anthem, Ariz., where he lives.

Ravinder “Ravi” Nath ’75, M MATH, directs the Joe Ricketts Center in Electronic Commerce and Database Marketing at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. He lives in Omaha.

Kimberly K. (Scheer) Parker ’75, MUS P, a flutist, is assistant band director at Russellville Junior High and also teaches music theory at Russellville High School in Russellville, Ark., where she lives.

Darryl G. Smette ’75, M EAS, is the executive vice president of marketing and midstream at Devon Energy Corp., in Oklahoma City. He resides in Edmond, Okla.

Edwin H. Cooper Jr. ’76, HC ADM, is founder, president and CEO of AcuityHealthcare LP, an Austin-based company that owns and manages 12 hospitals, specializing in high acuity, medically complex patients. He lives in Austin, Texas.*

Karen S. Cox ’76, MKT, is chief operating officer of Providrs Care network, a preferred provider organization owned by the Medical Society of Sedgwick County. She resides in Sedgwick, Kan.

Patrick “Pat” J. Crowley ’76, HC ADM, ’79 M URB A, is manager at Patterson Dental Supply Co.’s 12th largest branch, which is located in Indianapolis, Ind. He lives in Indianapolis.*

Alfonso E. Lenhardt ’76, M AJ, a retired Army major general who became the first African American to serve as an officer of Congress when appointed the 36th sergeant at arms of the U.S. Senate in 2001, now serves as U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania. He is a permanent resident of Alexandria, Va.

Ismael J. Rodriguez ’76, AJ, is an immigration program analyst for the U.S. Labor Department. He resides in Waukegan, Ill.

Steven “Steve” A. Wisdom ’76, GEN ST, is vice president for investments at Stifel Nicolaus & Co. Inc. in Wichita, where he resides.

Robyn A. Bair ’77, WOM ST, ’77 PSYCH, ’81 M URB A, is a project manager at Sprint in Overland Park, Kan., where she lives.

Carol A. (Showalter) Cline ’77, DH, a dental hygienist at PrairieStar Health Center in Hutchinson, Kan., was named employee of the month in March. She lives in Lyons, Kan.

David A. Grainger ’77, CHEM, is associate dean for research at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. He resides in Wichita.

William J. Malone ’77, MUS P, music director at Pikes Peak Community College, has been awarded the PPCC Faculty of the Year award. He lives in Colorado Springs, Colo.

R. Douglas “Doug” Marwill ’77, MCH E, is a designated engineering representative for propulsion systems and engines with Drake Goup Association, an aviation consultancy firm. Marwill resides in San Antonio, Texas.

Danny A. Wall ’77, BUS ADM, is vice president and general manager at KAKE-TV in Wichita. He lives in Wichita.

Phillip O. Barry ’78, M EAS, a Fullbright Scholar with 30 years of experience in higher education, is president of Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari, N.M., where he resides.

Mark A. Carvalho ’78, R/TV, former associate head baseball coach and hitting coach at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., now coaches the Coyote baseball team at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan.

Steven H. Hauck ’78, SP, is the chief marketing officer at Professional Engineering Consultants in Wichita, where he lives.

Ginger C. (Yang) Hwalek ’78, M MUS T/C, a pianist, violist, educator and conductor, teaches class piano and keyboard musicianship, co-directs the chamber music program and is the director of Maine Summer Youth Music at the University of Maine. She lives in Bangor, Maine.

Larry D. Landwehr ’78, M EAS, is president of United Teachers of Wichita. He resides in Wichita.

Roger F. Rand ’78, BUS ADM, is the international projects manager at Baker Oil Tools, which is based in Sakhalin, Russia. Rand lives in Houston.

Lynda J. Schlender ’78, NURS, is a collections manager at American Red Cross Blood Services Central Plains Region. She resides in Wichita.

Tally A. (Nangle) Bell ’79, NURS, ’84 M NURS, is a nurse practitioner and administrator for Neurology Consultants of Kansas LLC. She resides in Wichita.

Christine L. Downey-Schmidt ’79, EL ED, ’86 M EAS, a former Kansas state senator, has been reappointed by Gov. Parkinson to the Kansas Board of Regents. She lives in Inman, Kan.

Steven “Steve” W. Freeberg ’79, BUS ADM, is a consumer products specialist at Sentry Insurance. He resides in Wichita.

Meri T. Goehring ’79, PT, ’90 M HS, is assistant professor of physical therapy at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Ill., where she lives.

Gail Unruh-Revel ’79, EL ED, a certified sex addition therapist, is director of the Center for Sexual Health at Prairie View in Newton, Kan. She resides in Newton.

Radford K. Walker ’79, COMP SCI, is a staff systems engineer at Qwest Communications in Denver, where he lives.

James L. Ziegler ’79, BUS ADM, is CEO and president at the Ziegler Group Inc., a Wichita-based aviation and aerospace consulting firm. He resides in Wichita.*

Kevin C. Clement ’80, MKT, is president of SemStream LP, a subsidiary of SemGroup LP, which distributes and markets propane gas in Canada. Clement resides in Tulsa, Okla.

Cynthia S. Couch ’80, FREN, ’85 AA LEG ASST, is a senior corporate law analyst at Westar Energy Inc., in Topeka, Kan., where she lives.

Karen L. Pickert ’80, PE, ’97 M CI, former Wilbur Middle School principal, is principal at Northwest High School in Wichita, where she resides.

Steven J. Bupp ’81, PSYCH, is medical director at codac Behavioral Health Services Inc. in Tucson, Ariz. He also has his own private practice, is staff psychiatrist at Arizona Biodyne and CEO for the Southwest Biomedical Research Foundation. He lives in Tucson.

Timothy L. Feldkamp ’81, MUS I, is coordinator of instrumental music activities at Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he resides.

Chris J. Kimminau ’81, AJ, is an attorney at the Law Office of Chris J. Kimminau. He lives in Tucson, Ariz.

Joel D. Knapp ’81, MUS ED, is the director of choral activities at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He lives in Glen Carbon, Ill.

John D. Myers ’81, POL SCI, is president and CEO of Master Sales & Marketing Inc. in Plano, Texas, where he lives.

Philip N. Sinder ’81, M MUS P, is professor of tuba and euphonium at Michigan State University. He resides in East Lansing, Mich.

Janet L. Wilson ’81, NURS, ’91 M NURS, is deputy commander of nursing at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, Ga., where she resides. Col. Wilson has received the U.S. Army Surgeon General’s 9A proficiency designator, the highest recognition for professional excellence in the Army Medical Department.*

Joseph A. Cipriani Jr. ’82, M PSYCH, is a professor of occupational therapy at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa. He lives in Exeter, Pa.

Diane L. (Ziegler) Shoemaker ’82, PE, ’90 M PE, is sales director at Fountainhead Development, a real estate development and hospitality organization in Fairbanks, Alaska, where she lives.*

Johnna K. (Burns) Hall ’83, ECON, is executive vice president at Linder & Associates in Wichita. She resides in Derby, Kan.

Stephen L. Hastings ’83, RELUE, is chief of real estate services at the Foundation for Senior Living in Phoenix, Ariz. He lives in Scottsdale, Ariz.*

Percival “Percy” J. Kirk ’83, GEN ST, is senior vice president and general manager for Cox Communications Omaha. He lives in Omaha.

Kathleen C. (Collins) Lees ’83, PA, is a physician assistant at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, Maine. She lives in Vassalboro, Maine.

Gary L. Pember ’83, MKT, is vice president of marketing at Simonton Windows in Cleveland, Ohio. He lives in Wooster, Ohio.*

Barry K. Disney ’84, MKT, a prosecutor for more than 20 years, is deputy attorney general of Kansas’ criminal justice division. He lives in Topeka, Kan.

David A. Lange ’84, M BUS ADM, is a professor of civil engineering, associate department head and director of the Center of Excellence for Airport Technology at the University of Illinois. He lives in Champaign, Ill.

R. Duane Dubois ’84, MKT, is a treasury sales analyst at Wachovia in Austin, Texas. He lives in Leander, Texas.*

Susan L. (Kelley) Leiker ’84, SOC, ’87 M SOC, is the senior human resources specialist with the city of Wichita. She resides in Wichita.

R. Allan Lytton ’84, SEC ED, is a lieutenant with the Kansas Highway Patrol, serving on the staff at the Patrol Training Academy in Salina. He is a Hays, Kan., resident.

Jeffrey “Jeff” Sanborn ’84, PT, a licensed physical therapist, is the director of rehabilitation and sports medicine at Memorial Hospital in Abilene, Kan., where he lives.

Dale R. Schrag ’84, M HIST, is the campus pastor as well as the director of church relations and convocation coordinator at Bethel College. He lives in North Newton, Kan.

Cynthia M. (Decker) Walker ’84, NURS, ’96 M NURS, a nurse at Via Christi, has received the 2009 St. Catherine of Siena Nurse Recognition Award. She resides in Wichita.

Thad Coffindaffer ’85, COMP SCI, is vice president of sales at ats Medical in Dallas. He resides in Roanoke, Texas.

Lewis H. Dickert ’85, MUS P, is an associate professor of music at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., where he lives.

Diane A. Gjerstad ’85, BUS, is director of intergovernmental affairs for Wichita public schools. She resides in Wichita.*

Stuart M. Messer ’85, HIST, who served two terms as district attorney of the 100th Judicial District, is a state of Texas district judge. He is a member of the National District Attorneys Association and a resident of Memphis, Texas.

Peggy L. Dokken-Opat ’86, M EAS, is director of professional development at Waterloo public schools. She lives in Waterloo, Iowa.

Cherie L. Finch ’86, PA, is an internal medicine physician assistant at Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, where she lives.

Mark Koch ’86, FIN, is the vice president, senior relationship manager at Bank of the West in Wichita. He resides in Goddard, Kan.*

Diane A. (Cary) Little ’86, M CDS, is a speech language pathologist with rehabilitation services at Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, Kan. She lives in Shawnee, Kan. 

Sara L. (Dickenson) Quinn ’86, FLD MJR, is a member of the visual journalism faculty at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Fla. She lives in St. Pete Beach, Fla.

Timothy D. Rives ’86, GEN ST, is deputy director of the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene, Kan. He also is the library’s supervisory archivist. He lives in Paola, Kan.

William C. Shelby ’86, PA, is a physician assistant at Roby Rural Health Clinic in Roby, Texas. He lives in Rotan, Texas.*

Laurie J. Becvar ’87, GEN ST, is dean of the graduate school at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. She lives in Mission Hill, S.D.

Michele A. Furlong ’88, GEN ST, a regional sales manager at LG International in Lake Dallas, Texas, is a national referee with USA Volleyball and the Professional Association of Volleyball Officials. She resides in Azle, Texas.

Joyce A. (Bedsworth) Hoffman ’88, M H SCI, is an associate professor of nursing at Goshen College in Goshen, Ind. She lives in Elkhart, Ind.

Mark L. Manning ’88, ACCT, ’88 FIN, is a budget officer for the city of Wichita. He lives in Wichita.

Clarice J. (Sigler) Powers ’88, M H SCI, is a co-owner of Home Healthcare Connection, a home health and hospice firm. She resides in Wichita.*
