Richard “Dick” L. Sanders ’60, PE, of Dick Sanders Insurance Agency, Wichita, has been inducted into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. A WU quarterback and defensive back in football, a member of Coach Ralph Miller’s first basketball team in 1951-52 and a slick-fielding Shocker shortstop, Sanders signed a contract with the New York Yankees following his junior season and played in the Yankees and Dodgers organizations for eight seasons. A member of the Shocker Hall of Fame, National Baseball Congress Hall of Fame and the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame, he lives in Wichita.*
Judith “Judy” M. Bell ’61, PSYCH, ’61 SOC, of Bell Retail Group, Colorado Springs, has been inducted into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. A WSU Achievement Award winner and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Kansas Golf Hall of Fame, Colorado Golf Hall of Fame and Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, she had a brilliant amateur golf career and became the first woman president of the USGA in 1996. She lives in Colorado Springs.
