Great Edition

Dear Shockers:

I have read, cover to cover, the fall 2012 edition of The Shocker magazine. It was a great celebration of all that is WSU. I was impressed by the (new Greek life page) about fraternity/sorority life at Wichita State. Thank you for recognizing this valuable aspect of campus life.

As one whose life path took me away from Wichita, I rely on The Shocker to keep me informed and connected to WSU. You have always made me proud of WSU and all the amazing accomplishments of our alumni, faculty, staff and students. Keep up the good work!

Sincerely,

Robert J. Kerr ’75,
Corvallis, Ore.

Dear The Shocker:

Thank you for sending the copy of The Shocker magazine.

Connie Kachel White’s article about Mom and Dad is excellent. There were even a couple of anecdotes in the piece which were new to me! The picture of Mom and Dad in front of the Airmaster is one of my favorites.

Shocker Memorabilia

Dear WSU Alumni Association:

I have a Wichita State University woolen WAA letter jacket, used in about 1929-1933. It is in excellent condition, and I wondered if possibly there would be any interest by someone at the university to having it for display, etc.

I would be happy to give it to the university, at no cost. It has been in our family for many years. If you know of someone there who would like to consider it, please let me know.

Earl Howard

Editor’s note: The WSU Alumni Association and its Shocker Memorabilia Collection are now the happy caretakers of Anabel McKenzie’s WAA letter sweater, contributed by Earl Howard. McKenzie graduated from the University of Wichita in 1932 with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences; Katherine Anabel (McKenzie) Reilly passed away in 1998. Other recent contributions to the Shocker Memorabilia Collection include a set of 1967 through 1972 yearbooks given by an alumna residing in Colorado and two commemorative alumni pins donated by the daughter of the University of Wichita’s 1936 May Queen.
