J. William “Bill” Little ’58, POL SCI, ’60 M POL SCI, has been elected mayor of Camarillo, Calif., where he lives.*

Bill H. Oswalt ’59, PE, ’68 M PE, is a 2015 inductee into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. The head baseball coach at Wichita’s South High School from 1964 to 1991, he won 67 percent of his games, retiring with a record of 232-114-4. His teams also won the City League championship in 1981, 1985, 1987, 1990 and 1991. He lives in Wichita.

James R. Collier ’62, JOURN, is a member of the board of trustees for Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D. Collier, who spent 37 years working in higher education, resides in Seattle, Wash.

Stephen “Steve” L. Clark ’65, BUS ADM, has been selected by the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce to receive its 2015 Uncommon Citizen award. The Chamber’s highest individual award, it recognizes those who have made consistent contributions to the people and institutions of Wichita and surrounding area. A former member of the alumni association’s board of directors and a recipient of the association’s Achievement Award in 2000, he is president of Clark Investment Group in Wichita, where he lives.*

Benjamin J. Curtis ’65, M ADM, was recognized for his 50 years as a Mason during the McAlester Scottish Rite Masonic Center’s 2014 fall reunion. An attorney, he lives in Poteau, Okla.*

Lynda E. Lanker ’65, ART ED, has on display some of her artworks at the Tyler (Texas) Museum of Art in the exhibit “Tough By Nature: Portraits of Cowgirls and Ranch Women of the American West,” which opened on March 29 and continues through July 12. She resides in Eugene, Ore.

Robert D. Blackwell Sr. ’66, PE, is serving as interim president and CEO of the DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago. The chairman and CEO at Blackwell Consulting Services, he lives in Beverly Shores, Ind. 

Gary L. Atkins ’67, SEC ED, received the Gary Backstrom Spirit of Achievement Award, the highest honor from the board of Junior Achievement of Southern Colorado, a non-profit economic education organization that works to help K-12 students understand principles of business and economics. He lives in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Robert M. Smith ’67, SPEECH ED, a consultant at Penson Associates Inc., has received the Chancellor’s Award for University Service from the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for 12 years. A former associate dean at WSU’s Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, he is president emeritus of Slippery Rock University, and lives in Franklin, Tenn.*

Richard E. Jorgensen ’68, M APP MUS, teaches horn and trumpet at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and is a member of the Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village (Ark.) Symphony Guild. Also a board member of the Hot Springs Jazz Society and principal trumpet with the Arkansas Symphony, he lives in Hot Springs.*

Paul S. Allen ’70, BUS ADM, CEO at Allen, Gibbs & Houlik LC, was honored during a March 10 ceremony hosted by Junior Achievement of Wichita as a 2015 inductee into the Wichita Business Hall of Fame. Allen, who served as chair of the alumni association’s board of directors from 1993-1994, lives in Wichita.*

Don W. Lock ’70, PE, a member of the Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame who excelled on Shocker track, baseball and basketball teams from 1954-1958, was honored at a number of baseball-related events March 20 during Don Lock Day in Kingman, Kan. Lock was first signed by the New York Yankees and also played for the Washington Senators, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox. He lives in Wichita.*

Donna E. (Roths) Sweet ’70, BIO, ’72 M BIO, has been recognized by the American College of Physicians for her efforts to advance medical standards. An internist, she received the Alfred Stengel Memorial Award for Outstanding Service. A professor of internal medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, director of internal medicine education at Via Christi-St. Francis and director and principal investigator for the Kansas AIDS Education and Training Center, she lives in Wichita.

Larry B. Kavouras ’71, BUS ADM, is a member of the McPherson Airport Authority, a five-member board that oversees the operation and development of the McPherson, Kan., airport. A retired Air Force and American Airlines pilot, he lives in Lindsborg, Kan.

Michael “Mike” J. Kennedy ’71, MUS ED, was honored as 2014 Kansas Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. Kennedy, the “Voice of the Shockers,” has been calling basketball, baseball and football games on radio and TV since the mid-1970s. He also became the radio voice of the WSU volleyball team in 2005. A member of the Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame, he lives in Wichita.*

Donald “Don” F. Racine ’71, PE, is a 2015 inductee into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. Head coach of the girls’ basketball team at Wichita’s Bishop Carroll Catholic High School for 33 years, he recorded 565 wins and 180 losses. His teams won five City League titles and the Kansas state basketball championship in 2004. He lives in Wichita.

Robert “Bob” H. Foos ’72, JOURN, owner and editor of the Webb City Sentinel, has been recognized by the Regional Media Hall of Fame at Missouri Southern State University. Presented by the university’s department of communication, the Hall of Fame award honors media professionals who have made an impact regionally. Foos, who has worked in journalism for more than 40 years, lives in Webb City, Mo.

Robert “Bob” E. Kocour ’72, ENG L/LIT, is a Realtor for Stephens Real Estate in Lawrence, Kan., where he lives.

Ernest “Ernie” L. Moore fs ’73 is a 2015 inductee into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. A key player in 78 wins as a starter on WSU’s basketball team from 1960-64, he averaged 17.4 PPG and scored 1,055 points during his collegiate career. A member of the Shocker Sports Hall of Fame, he lives in Kansas City, Kan.

Robert “Bob” L. Neace ’73, ART, is director of Inter-Faith Ministries’ Art of Faith Gallery. He lives in Wichita.*

Steven “Steve” D. Van Camp ’73, BUS ADM, is a sales account executive at Concergent IT. He lives in Wichita.

Martha “Marci” A. (Koch) Williams ’73, AS BUS, is a 2015 inductee into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. A bowler for more than 35 years, she is a member of the Great Plains United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame and a recipient of the WSHF’s Award of Excellence for her contributions to the sport of bowling. A member of the United States Bowling Congress board of directors, she resides in Wichita.

George H. Whitten III ’74, M ART, is executive director of the Mansfield Art Center. An artist whose work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, he lives in Mansfield, Ohio.

Scott R. Demaree ’75, MATH, ’96 M PE, teaches astronomy at Brazoswood High School in Clute, Texas. He lives in Texas City, Texas.

M. Linda (Domann) Nugent ’75, MUS ED, ’83 M EL MUS, is a residential real estate sales associate at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty. She lives in Wichita.*

Moyer W. Bunting ’76, HC ADM, ’91 M H SCI, is CFO at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kan. He resides in Lenexa, Kan.

Mark G. Dotzour ’76, BUS ADM, will retire in August 2015 from his position as chief economist at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University. He lives in College Station, Texas.

Patrick “Pat” J. Moyer ’76, SPEECH, is general manager at Air Capitol Media Group, LLC/99.7 LITE FM. He lives in Wichita.

Kirk D. Doll ’77, PE, is a 2015 inductee into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. He has spent more than 35 years coaching college football, with stops at Wichita State, Tulsa, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Louisiana State, San Jose State and East Carolina, where he serves as the special teams coordinator and running backs coach. He also roamed the NFL sidelines as a member of the Denver Broncos coaching staff from 2004-2006. He lives in Greenville, N.C.

Deb S. Wetta ’77, NURS, is director of the Vision Rehabilitation Clinic at Envision, a disability services nonprofit in Wichita, where she lives.

Richard B. Campbell ’78, MUS P, along with his wife Debra, received the 2014 Distinctive Community Service award from the Wichita chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. A private wealth advisor with Stoutheart Financial Group, he lives in Wichita.*

Barbara “Barb” J. Newman ’79, SOC WK, is director of the Sunshine Children’s Home in Andover, Kan. She lives in Rose Hill, Kan.

Ulrich “Bob” Trogele ’79, MKT, is chief operating officer and executive vice president at American Vanguard Corporation’s principal operating subsidiary, AMVAC Chemical Corp. A former Shocker basketball player and Olympian who competed as a member of the German national team, he lives in Newport Beach, Calif. *

Delores J. Beery ’80, M MUS P, is a voice instructor at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. A mezzo-soprano, she performed in Europe for 15 years in opera, chamber and sacred music, musicals, radio and television. Also an associate director of the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Girls Choir, Beery resides in East Ridge, Tenn.

J. Bruce Haertl fs ’80 was presented with the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame’s 5th Annual Mal Elliott Sports Media Award during a ceremony on April 18. A longtime television and radio broadcaster, he lives in Tulsa, Okla.

Monty D. Allen ’81, ACCT, is a partner at Kirkpatrick, Sprecker and Company LLP, which offers a full range of accounting, tax and consulting services. She lives in Bel Aire, Kan.*

Brenda L. (Booker) Moffitt ’81, NURS, ’92 M NURS, is chief nursing officer at Memorial Health System in Abilene, Kan. She lives in McPherson, Kan.

Karen S. Wheeler ’81, NURS, ’98 M NURS, is an advanced practice registered nurse at Riordan Clinic. She lives in Bel Aire, Kan.*

Michael L. Louthan ’82, BUS ADM, is the author of Everyone Has Their Little Secrets, which chronicles the traumatic life of a bullied teen. He lives in Metairie, La.

Bruce Plank ’82, ART GD, is an art instructor at Hesston College. He lives in Marion, Kan.

Stephen L. Hastings ’83, RELUE, director of real estate services at the Foundation for Senior Living in Phoenix, Ariz., is a member of the board for the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco’s Affordable Housing Advisory Council. He lives in Scottsdale, Ariz.*

Curtis S. Renard ’83, ACCT, a captain in the Navy, in December assumed command of the Navy element of the Joint Transportation Reserve Unit and now leads a staff of 40 Navy reservists and serves as a chief watch officer for U.S. Transportation Command’s Deployment Distribution Operations Center. Renard, who is also the executive director of sales for software developer NexLearn, resides in Wichita.*

Paul W. Huser ’84, BIO, a physician at West Wichita Family Physicians PA, is president of the board of directors for the Medical Society of Sedgwick County. He lives in Wichita.

Nancy G. McCabe ’84, ENG CR, has written From Little Houses to Little Women: Revisiting a Literary Childhood. This book is the story of McCabe’s journey through the books that shaped her as a child, from Nancy Drew to Anne of Green Gables, and a memoir of her visits to tourist sites related to her favorite writers. McCabe, who directs the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s writing program and teaches creative nonfiction and fiction for the Spalding University Brief-Residency MFA Program, resides in Bradford, Pa.

Theresa M. O’Connor ’84, FIN, serves on the Idaho Humane Society board of directors. The business unit controller for Micron Technology, Inc., which has a global presence in the semiconductor industry, she resides in Boise, Idaho.

John T. Bell ’85, M ENG CR, is a professor in the English department at American River College. He lives in Sacramento, Calif.

Linda Hargrove ’85, M SEC ED, has been appointed to serve on the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame’s board of trustees. A member of the NJCAA Hall of Fame, she lives in Derby, Kan.

Cole E. Herder ’85, EL E, is city administrator for the city of Humboldt, Kan., where he lives.

Michael “Mike” Jasnau ’85, MGT, is a teaching pro at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev. A member of the Shocker bowling team as a student and a professional bowler from 1986-1993, he lives in Eden, Utah.

Lila M. (McMillan) Mourning ’85, NURS, ’95 M NURS, a partner at Slate Creek Spa & Wellness in Wichita, resides in Clearwater, Kan.

Pamela “Pam” S. Palmer ’85, PT, is president and CEO of Palmer Physical Therapy for Women. She resides in Andover, Kan.*

Michael “Mike” D. Erickson ’86, COMP SCI, ’88 M COMP SCI, is chief information officer at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. He resides in Golden.*

Susan L. Lyles ’86, THEA, is executive director of And Toto Too Theatre Company. She lives in Denver, Colo.

Michael T. Malone ’86, MKT/RELUE, is vice president at Fidelity National Title in Wichita, where he lives.*

Patricia “Pat” D. (Collins) Crawley ’87, MATH, ’90 M MATH, is a cardiologist at Cardiology Consultants of Kansas, and also sees patients once a month at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kan. She lives in Rose Hill, Kan.

David D. Hagood ’87, EL E, is a member at large at the Wireless Innovation Forum, a non-profit that advocates for the advancement of radio technologies worldwide. Hagood, who leads the development of software communications architecture (SCA) based radio test systems for Aeroflex, lives in Viola, Kan.

Lisa D. Muci ’87, MUS P, a former violinist with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra in Knoxville, Tenn., is affiliate director at the Kansas Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, an affiliate organization of the national Wolf Trap Institute that offers performing arts programming for elementary school teachers who want to incorporate the arts into their curriculum. Muci is program director at Wichita’s Arts Partners Inc., which sponsors the Kansas Wolf Trap Institute.

Janette “Jan” L. (Lowry) Satterfield ’87, GEN ST, is a district judge for Kansas’ 13th Judicial District, which includes Butler, Elk and Greenwood counties. She lives in El Dorado, Kan.*

Eric L. Sexton ’87, MGT, ’92 M PUB ADM, has been inducted into the Halstead (Kan.) High School Hall of Fame. The director of athletics at Wichita State and a former standout Shocker golfer, he lives in Derby, Kan.*

Cheryl A. Bolton ’88, BUS ADM, is market director of oncology services and clinics at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She lives in Wichita.

A. Bart Ogden ’88, SPEECH, in January was named Shriner of the Year by the Wichita Scottish Rite. The president of Home Safe Hearth and Chimney Inc., he lives in Wichita.

Stephen “Steve” N. Cole ’89, MGT, ’99 M CJ, is the Black Hawk, Colo., police chief. He lives in Arvada, Colo.*

Kevin T. Hallacy ’89, COMP SCI, is vice president of finance and operations at telecommunications service provider Ulterius Technologies. He lives in Wichita.

Janeal K. (Crabb) Krehbiel ’89, M MUS, served as director of the 24th annual Mennonite Youth Choir Festival, held Feb. 28-March 1 at Goshen College in Goshen, Ind. Krehbiel, a clinician and festival director for youth choirs throughout the United States, lives in Lawrence, Kan.

Anne C. Nelson ’89, PSYCH, is executive director of the Central Plains Health Care Partnership and the Project Access Program, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the Medical Society of Sedgwick County. She lives in Derby, Kan.

Arlene M. Steffen ’89, M MUS P, teaches piano and piano pedagogy at Fresno Pacific University. She lives in Fresno, Calif.

Eric M. Wedge fs ’89 was inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame during a Jan. 24 ceremony. A catcher on the Shocker baseball team that won the 1989 NCAA championship and manager of the Cleveland Indians from 2003-2009 and the Seattle Mariners from 2011-2013, he lives in Lancaster, N.Y.

Kelly L. (Roberts) Wessel ’89, AJ, is an accountant at Slawson Companies, a real estate development and oil/gas exploration business. She lives in Wichita.

Lyle D. Dejmal ’90, MATH, is a math teacher at Rawlins County High School. He lives in Atwood, Kan.

Kristine A. Driskill ’90, H SCI, is a physician assistant at Via Christi Clinic. She lives in Bel Aire, Kan.*

Michelle A. (Powell) Fox ’90, PT, is a physical therapist who provides services for students with disabilities who attend public schools in Liberal, Kan. She resides in Liberal.

Randy K. Hasenbank ’90, PE, ’95 M SP ADM, is head cross country/track and field coach at Loyola University Chicago. A steeplechaser as a Shocker undergrad, he earned All-MVC accolades and helped the Shockers to a 1987 national ranking and MVC crown. He lives in Chicago, Ill.

Timothy “Tim” W. Barker ’91, AJ, is rehabilitation services director for Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He lives in Goddard, Kan.

Patrick J. “P.J.” Forbes Jr. ’91, MKT, has retired from baseball. Forbes, who played professionally from 1990-2002 and managed in the minor leagues – most recently for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Rancho Cucamonga Quakes – from 2004-2014, was also a member of the 1989 WSU baseball team that won the NCAA national championship. He is now the director of special projects for Watco Companies, a transportation business. He lives in Wichita.

Michelle R. Jantz ’91, PE, leads the Midway chapter of the American Red Cross. She lives in Wichita.

Terri L. (Martin) McCool ’91, BUS ADM, formerly with Associated Advertising and with Chance Rides Manufacturing Inc., is marketing director for the Koch Creative Group at Koch Industries in Wichita, where she lives.*

Kristie L. (Heun) Thackery ’91, EL ED, ’13 M SP ED, ’14 M ED LD, is principal at Ewalt Elementary School in Augusta, Kan. She lives in Wichita.

Jeffrey “Jeff” M. Yearout ’91, MUS P/MUS ED, is leader of Project Lead the Way, a nationally sponsored pre-engineering program, and a computer technology teacher at Derby (Kan.) Middle School. He lives in Wichita.*

Jeffrey “Jeff” P. Rathbun ’92, AJ, is manager of Home Bank & Trust Company’s west Wichita branch. He lives in Wichita.

David N. Cool ’93, MGT, is president at Clearwater Engineering, a machining and assembly company in Clearwater, Kan. He lives in Wichita.

Kelly M. (Fitzmorris) Kohl ’93, M EL ED, is a math teacher at Moundridge (Kan.) Middle School. She resides in Moundridge.

LaShawn A. Miller ’93, SOC WK, is a social worker and volunteer coordinator at Mercy Hospice and an adjunct instructor at Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College. She resides in Fort Scott.

Cory D. Schrater ’93, M BUS ADM, vice president of commercial lending at First National Bank of Hutchinson, works at the bank’s Goddard, Kan., location. He lives in Valley Center, Kan.

Ala “Al” A. Tamimi ’93, M EL E, is vice president of transmission planning, policy and compliance for Sunflower Electric Power Corp. Tamimi, who in 2014 was elevated to the grade of senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, resides in Hays, Kan.

Dawn M. (Powell) Tatum ’93, GEN ST, is a vice president at Commerce Bank in Wichita, where she lives.*

Robert “Bob” E. Turner ’93, EL ED, is principal at Central Elementary School in Lyons, Kan. He lives in Hutchinson, Kan.

Dennis A. Camire ’94, M ENG CR, serves on the board of directors for the Mahoosuc Arts Council. Camire, who is an adjunct instructor at Central Maine Community College and runs the nonprofit Maine Poetry Central – which curates The Portland Poet Laureate Project and The Minute with the Muse Video-Poem series – lives in Kennebunk, Maine.

Heidi L. (Schroeder) Richert ’94, MUS ED, ’02 M MUS ED, teaches music at Tanglewood Elementary School in Derby, Kan., where she lives.

Marla J. (Misek) Clark ’95, ENG L/LIT, ’97 M COMM, is content director at Imagination, a marketing and advertising agency in Chicago, Ill., where she lives.*

James E. Finkeldei ’95, SEC ED, ’00 M CI, ’02 M EAS, is assistant superintendent of schools for the Catholic Diocese of Wichita. He lives in Wichita.

Shane E. Goodwin ’95, MGT, ’00 M BUS ADM, is director of manufacturing for Lowen Sign Co. in Hutchinson, Kan. He resides in Buhler, Kan.*

R. David Haas fs ’95 was inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame during a Jan. 24 ceremony. A former Shocker and Detroit Tigers pitcher, he lives in Wichita.

Lori L. Lalouette ’95, BIO, ’95 GEN ST, is owner/attorney at Lalouette Law, which has offices in Marion, Kan., and Hillsboro, Kan. Lalouette, who also serves as the city attorney for Lincolnville, Kan., and Lehigh, Kan., is a Marion County commissioner. She resides in Hillsboro, Kan.

Jason W. Marciano ’95, EL ED, ’00 M EAS, is principal at Lincoln Elementary School in Iola, Kan.

Raymond “Ray” D. Torkelson ’95, M COUNS, teaches German at the Haysville (Kan.) school district’s Campus High School. He lives in Augusta, Kan.

Gianna M. Gariglietti ’96, M COUNS, is president and CEO of Lakemary Center, which serves Miami County and Johnson County residents who have developmental disabilities. A licensed clinical professional counselor, she resides in Overland Park, Kan.

Julie A. (Funk) Koon ’96, AJ, is an assistant district attorney in the Sedgwick County (Kan.) District Attorney’s office. She lives in Garden Plain, Kan.*

Maurice McGrown ’96, H SCI, is director of respiratory care at Hutchinson (Kan.) Regional Medical Center. He lives in Wichita.

Mindy M. McPheeters ’96, ACCT, former in-house counsel at Delta Dental of Kansas Inc., is an employment attorney at Spirit AeroSystems. A member of the WSU Alumni Association’s board of directors, she lives in Wichita.*

Brandon J. Tidemann ’96, BUS ADM, is a residential real estate sales associate for J.P. Weigand & Sons Inc. He lives in Andover, Kan.

Mark R. Detter ’97, M PUB ADM, is city administrator for the city of Andover, Kan., where he lives.

Jeffrey “Jeff” D. Glaves ’97, EX SCI, is a residential real estate sales associate for Keller Williams Signature Partners. He lives in El Dorado, Kan.

Marcus A. Hicks ’97, COMM, is director of admissions at Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kan., where he lives.

Allison D. Stucky ’97, ART ED, is a graphic design teacher and Fine Arts Academy leader at Wichita’s West High School. She lives in Wichita.

Lane A. Davis ’99, PE, is an assistant coach for the Saint Joseph’s University women’s soccer team. He lives in Chesterbrook, Pa.

Mark A. Kanaga ’98, PHIL, ’03 M LIB ST, is an attorney and partner at Kutak Rock LLP. He lives in Wichita.

Keith A. Lawing ’98, M PUB ADM, is a senior advisor for the Regional Economic Area Partnership, which is comprised of 37 city and county governments in nine south central Kansas counties. He lives in Wichita.

Jadd C. Munn ’98, MKT, ’99 M BUS ADM, is community bank president for CornerBank’s Wichita locations. He lives in Rose Hill, Kan.

Roy J. Oeser fs ’98 is a 2015 inductee into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. One of Wichita’s best high school wrestlers, he won four state wrestling championships while attending Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School from 1974-1977. A member of the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame, he is the head wrestling coach at Wichita’s East High School. He lives in Wichita.

Brandon L. Russell ’98, CJ, is a lieutenant in the Derby (Kan.) Police Department. He lives in Wichita.

Arthur “Art” J. Martin ’99, M ART, last fall displayed some of his work at Muskegon (Mich.) Community College’s Overbrook Art Gallery as part of the “Object/Place: Works by Lee S. Brown and Art Martin” exhibition. A painter, Martin is associate curator/collections manager at the Muskegon Museum of Art. He lives in Norton Shores, Mich.

Matthew “Matt” K. Scheuler ’99, COMP SCI, serves as president of the school bus manufacturer Collins Bus Corp. Scheuler resides in Hutchinson, Kan.

Megan S. (Adcock) Geffert ’00, M CDS, is a speech language pathologist for public schools in Haven, Kan., where she lives.
