Wheatheads & Championship Season Bank Cards

Dear Editor,

I received my spring 2011 copy of The Shocker in the mail and enjoyed it from cover to cover! Great job by the magazine staff.

Thanks to the magazine, I now have two Wheatheads and my own INTRUST Bank Championship Season debit card!

I’d also like to get an extra copy or two of the magazine. Is it possible to purchase any copies from the alumni association?

WSU Alumni Awards: Emerald Anniversary

Dear Editor,

Congratulations on your recent publication, WSU Alumni Awards: Emerald Anniversary (one of two special supplements featured in the spring 2011 The Shocker).

Each time I get back to Wichita, I’m amazed at the continued expansion of Wichita State; I’m sure much of this expansion is related to the excellent ongoing support that the alumni association has generated over the years.

Sincerely,

Vincent Gott ’51

Editor’s Note: Back issues of The Shocker, as  well as special print supplements such as The Shocker NIT Extra: 2010-2011 Basketball Season and Wichita State University Alumni Awards: Emerald Anniversary, may be requested by emailing the editor: connie.white@ wichita.edu.

A Note from the President

In the spring 2011 The Shocker’s feature story, “A Man on the Horizon,” writer Kerry Jones ’00 profiled Alfonso “Al” Lenhardt ’76, who in 2009 was nominated as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania by President Barack Obama. As standard practice for The Shocker offices, an extra copy of the magazine in which President Obama was quoted was sent to the White House, which responded with thank-you correspondence signed by the President:

president Barak Obama's signature
