JOANNA RAMONDETTA ’02
A native Wichitan, Joanna (Mix) Ramondetta studied painting, art history and the decorative arts at WSU.
“I became influenced by different eras of art history, such as the art nouveau period, as well as the Italian and Netherlandish Renaissance,” she says. “I was fascinated with the detail and stylistic forms found throughout the works produced during these eras.”
A member of Wichita’s oldest cooperative gallery, Gallery XII in Old Town, Ramondetta also serves on the Friends of the Wichita Art Museum Board and is a part-time freelance arts writer.
In 2006, she participated in the artist-in-residency program at the International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture in Italy.
Her recent work, she says, is based on “combining classical western art with the decorative arts of the Orient and the Near East.”
