Party Gras

Shocker students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends — some masked, some in beads — let the good times roll ...

A touch of Mardi Gras madness hits campus Feb. 20-25 when Shockers of all ages come together to celebrate everything from a 50-year reunion to the crowning of Wichita State's newest homecoming queen.

Cecilia Franz, a physical education major from Wichita, is voted queen, with basketball standout Garrett Stutz as her king. Brooke Barlow, Andrea Holzwarth, Touré Murry, Courtney Rhodes, Alicia Sanchez, Jordan Sanders, Matt Wedel and Brett Wyatt make up the full court of PartyGras: Homecoming 2012 royalty.

Franz is crowned during coronation ceremonies at halftime of the Feb. 25 WSU vs. Drake game, which the Shockers win 81-58. Among those joining her on the floor are WSU President Don Beggs and his wife, Shirley; Evan Wilson, vice president of sales and member services at Meritrust, which sponsored homecoming royalty activities; last year's homecoming king and queen Nathan Steele and Joleen Oates; and Elaine (Woodman) Brady '61, the University of Wichita's 1960 homecoming queen.
