A Sweet Award

BY CONNIE KACHEL WHITE

Sonia GretemanWSU graphic design grad Sonia Greteman '82 has won myriad awards as founder, president and creative director of the Wichita-based marketing communications agency Greteman Group, but none as sweet as this: the 2012 Donna E. Sweet Humanitarian of the Year award.

Sweet '70/72, KU Wichita Internal Medicine Midtown physician and internationally noted HIV/AIDS expert, set up the award in 2005 to celebrate individuals who have made key contributions to the Wichita community through their leadership and philanthropy.

"I'm humbled by the idea that a trailblazing woman who knocks my socks off with her work, likes my work," says Greteman, who has a long history of giving both time and resources to a variety of local charities. "I know who does the really important work, and her name is Dr. Sweet. Our paths have crossed a few times over the years, and I'm in awe of her. How does she do what she does, innovating, jetting around the globe, seeing patients, giving lectures and all in 4-inch heels!"
