Funding Excellence

On any given evening this year, 18 student employees will be sitting at their phones under the watchful eyes of Brandon Smith, Wichita State's new coordinator of The Annual Fund for Excellence.

The student workers are calling Wichita State alumni, trying to raise money for the annual fund, a program sponsored by the Endowment Association that funds student scholarships, faculty and staff development, as well as equipment and technology needs for the campus.

This year Smith has set a high goal for the program and his student dialers: to improve dramatically on last year's fund-raising efforts, when 6,300 donors gave a total of $300,000.

To help Smith and his crew meet this goal, university faculty and staff will be called on to exhibit their support for WSU. "Having our internal constituency show that they are willing to invest in the future of the university is a great example for the alumni and friends participating in the annual fund," Smith says.

For more information, call Smith at (316) 978-3819.
