Rupert K. Hohmann ’51, M MUS, received the Erwin C. and Verna Kaufman Goering Award from Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. The award, given biennially, recognizes outstanding musical achievement. The former Bethel College music professor and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire professor emeritus of music resides in North Newton.
Oscar V. Larmer ’55, M ART, who is the first graduate of the WSU school of art and design’s Master of Fine Arts program and whose landscape paintings grace many public and private collections, displayed some of his watercolors in the exhibit “Visual Poetry” at Garden City Arts in Garden City, Kan., earlier this year. His artwork can be found in the collections of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Mo., the Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University and WSU’s Ulrich Museum of Art. Larmer, who is retired from teaching painting and drawing at KSU, lives in Manhattan, Kan.
Richard W. Lucht ’62, M MUS, last spring served as an adjudicator for piano students auditioning to be members of the National Fraternity of Student Musicians. An emeritus piano professor at East Carolina University, he is a resident of Winterville, N.C.

Robert E. Barr ’66, MATH, who is retired after serving as a U.S. Air Force pilot for 12 years, then as chief pilot for Halliburton, lives in Boise, Idaho.
Lawrence R. Bell ’66, BUS ADM, served in the Air Force from 1954-58, worked for the state of Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services and was a financial services specialist before his retirement. He lives in Burien, Wash.*
Robert G. Boling ’66, EL E, is retired after working for Beach Aircraft, KGE, Law Construction Co. and his own firm, Boling Engineering Consultants. A 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, he lives in rural Sedgwick, Kan.
Edward C. Brann II ’66, PHYS, is retired after working in systems analysis at Boeing, where he met Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin while working on the Apollo space program. He is a resident of Pasco, Wash.
Linda L. (Higgins) Brown ’66, MUS ED, is a retired professional violinist. She played with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, taught music master classes and served as conductor of the Phoenix Community Orchestra. She lives in Overgaard, Ariz.
Lawrence P. Buck ’66, HIST, is retired after working as a professor of history at Widener University in Chester, Pa., for 42 years. During this time, he spent 20 years as academic vice president and provost and twice served as the university’s acting president. In addition to numerous academic articles, he authored The Roman Monster, coedited The Social History of the Reformation and served as translator for Monemvasia: The Town and its History. He resides in Swarthmore, Pa.
Viney M. (Polite) Chandler ’66, SOC, spent much of her career working for United Way in Ohio, Iowa and Texas, retiring as president and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County, Fort Worth, Texas. She lives in Fort Worth.
Jerry J. Cochran ’66, POL SCI, is retired after working for BNSF Railroad. Cochran, who also served in the U.S. Navy, is a resident of Amarillo, Texas.
Jerry B. Cohlmia ’66, CHEM, is a retired physician who practiced as a nephrologist at Wichita Nephrology Group PA, which he founded in 1976. He lives in Wichita.*
Norman “Norm” E. Conley ’66, AERON E, is retired after a career at Boeing, where he was the project engineering manager for Air Force One and helped invent a wing with improved leading edges for aircraft – for which he and his co-inventors received a patent in 1980. Conley lives in Wichita.*
David “Dave” G. Crockett ’66, POL SCI, is an attorney at Crockett & Gilhousen. A past president of Wichita State’s Student Government Association and a former member of the WSU Alumni Association’s board of directors, he lives in Eastborough, Kan.*
Roy L. Dickson ’66, EL ED, is retired after teaching elementary school in El Dorado, Kan., for 37 years, working as a personal trainer and managing a fitness center. Dickson, who served in the U.S. Navy for six years, lives in Sachse, Texas.

Barry E. Gaston ’66, SPEECH, had varied work during his 42 years in the radio industry, including as a disc jockey, program director, station manager and an owner. He now runs his own marketing firm, Gaston Marketing Inc. A former member of the Air National Guard, he lives in Wichita.*

Conrad L. Graber ’66, ADM, is retired after working at Boeing and as an independent insurance agent. A former member of the U.S. Navy, he lives in Wichita.
Clifford E. Hall Jr. ’66, SPEECH, ’73 M SEC ED, has retired from working in public radio, public television and public access cable TV. In 1970, he was hired to be the first full-time manager at KMUW, Wichita’s public radio station. Hall currently works as a part-time K-6 teacher assistant and as a K-12 substitute teacher at public schools in Palatine, Ill. A former member of the Kansas National Guard and the U.S. Navy, he resides in Palatine.*

Jerry F. Thompson ’66, HIST, served in the U.S. Army for 28 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He also worked in health care administration at Santa Rosa Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He is a Wichita resident.

Mork, who is also serving as interim president and CEO of Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters in Prescott, Ariz., was awarded the 2005 WSU Alumni Achievement Award by the WSU Alumni Association for his 35 years of work in building the Sedgwick County Big Brothers Big Sisters program from the ground up into a nationally recognized program that enabled more children to be mentored more effectively.
