Der Professor

BY DANI WELLEMEYER

Bob Trogele and Dharma deSilva

WSU Barton School of Business students have a new opportunity to study abroad, thanks to Shocker Bob Trogele ’79.

Trogele, who has been appointed an honorary professorship with the Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft Berlin, Berlin School of Economics, is the driving force behind the establishment of one of FHW Berlin’s first partnerships with an American university.

Wichita State business students now can apply for the exchange program with the German university. “It’s about teaching WSU students about a global economy and society,” Trogele relates.

Dharma deSilva, professor of international business and one of Trogele’s former profs at Wichita State, was on hand July 5 for Trogele’s official appointment. As North American director of the agricultural products group FMC Corp., which is based in Philadelphia, Pa., Trogele has extensive international management experience, particularly in the field of mergers and acquisitions.

Trogele, a former Shocker basketball player, says, “I will always be appreciative, grateful and respectful of my four years at WSU.”
