Based on the artist’s careful observation of life, Reef, a work in acrylics, is among the paintings shown in an October exhibit, Proclivities, at Butters Gallery in Portland, Ore.
“My mother recently passed away from cancer,” says Stoddard-Hayes ’83, who was primary caretaker. “My recent work is a tribute to the process.”
Long interested in the complexity of the natural world, Stoddard-Hayes, who lives in West Linn, Ore., uses images to explore the greater environment and her reactions to it.
