Painting by John M. PototschnikBorn in St. Ives, Cornwall, England, Pototschnik grew up in Wichita and studied advertising design at Wichita State and illustration and design at Los Angeles’ Art Center College.

He worked as a freelance illustrator with many of Dallas’ major advertising agencies and companies before taking up painting professionally in 1982.

The artist, who lives in Wylie, Texas, says, “I enjoy depicting simple, common, everyday life and its objects as things of beauty and worth.” He is the recipient of a number of regional and national awards, including Best of Show in 2013 and an Award of Excellence in 2014 as an Outdoor Painters Society “Plein Air Southwest Salon” winner.

His paintings are held in many private collections and by cities, banks, corporations and museums.
