Woody Crumbo's paintings are held by a number of prominent museums, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

In addition to the visual arts, he was a noted flautist and dancer of traditional Native American dances. He took up the study of the Kiowa ceremonial wooden flute at the age of 17, eventually soloing on that instrument in performance with the Wichita Symphony.

Of Potawatomi descent, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1978 and appointed an "ambassador of good will" for Oklahoma in 1982. He was dedicated to portraying the cultures of American Indians, preserving their ancient traditions and advancing their economic prospects. For more: read "Native Visions."
