Munster Benches

"Münster Benches"

painted aluminum

Scott Burton, 1939-89

One of the newest acquisitions of the WSU Endowment Association Art Collection, this pair of benches was purchased from Max Protetch Gallery in New York City. Like many contemporary sculptors, Burton attempted to bridge the gap between fine art and public art, creating objects that are accessible rather than esoteric. Burton's benches are at once aesthetically interesting and utilitarian.
