As of the printing of the last issue of The Shocker, change was in the air for me and the association. In July, I resigned my position to pursue a new calling in life as Minister of Youth and Christian Education for the Baptist church my family and I belong to in Derby, Kan. While this decision came as a real "shocker" to some people, it is truly a calling I need to follow.
Over the past seven years, I have been very blessed to be a part of a nationally respected alumni association. During my journey, I've had the opportunity and pleasure to meet and work with many dedicated and loyal Shocker alumni. It has also been a pleasure to witness the continued growth of a great university. My experiences as executive director will always make me very proud to be a Shocker. As a new graduate back in 1987, one career goal of mine was to return some day and be a part of the leadership of this association. With the help of many great association presidents and dedicated volunteers, this dream was realized and fulfilled.
I want to take this final opportunity in this message to thank all of you who continue to give your time, talents and support to the association and its many programs and events — including the new Rockin' the Roundhouse event, the WSU Distinguished Alumni Breakfast Series, chapter events and many more. As I told the association's board members in my letter to them — I always have been and always will be a Shocker. Go Shocks!
