Bill Gardner ’81/83 could create you — or, more specifically, he could create your company’s identity. This owner and designer at Gardner Design, Wichita, helps people discover their ethos.
“Mostly, we work on corporate identity,” he says. “But when we develop an identity, a mark, it’s more than developing a logo — it’s about creating an entire visual vocabulary.”
Gardner is quick to point out, though, that while a mark may represent someone’s business, it is the people themselves and their talent and hard work that create worth in a company. “People look at a mark and say, ‘That’s who this company is,’ based solely on a visual occurrence. But, do you become the mark, or does the mark become you? Hopefully, the mark becomes you, because you bring the value. All we can do is portray that value.”
By sweeping all three of the professional “Best Of” honors at The American Institute of Graphic Arts/Wichita, Annual Design Awards, Gardner’s identity and that of his firm are certainly right on the mark.
