Teeing off with 32 other teams May 3 at Willowbend Golf Club, Wichita, was the winning team of the WSU Alumni Association-sponsored CaddyShock II Shocker Open.
Composed of George Fahnestock ’69, Eric Fahnestock, Rob Jacob and Butch Scholl, the team scored a 55 in a nine-hole random draw. Also scoring a 55, but coming in second after a scorecard playoff, were Gary Nye ’71, Tim Nye ’91, Gary Navarro ’74 and Dan Waller.
Winners of closest-to-the-pin prizes were Hugh Sales on Hole 4, Jeff Kiser on Hole 8, Eldis Beets ’56 on Hole 12 and Navarro on Hole 17. And Gaylord Smith ’70 took home a set of Tommy Armour irons as the tournament’s grand-prize winner.
