WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI MAGAZINE
Fall 2002

Director's Corner

By Brad S. Beets ’87 (Published fall 2002.)

As I’m writing this column, WSU is announcing a 4.6 percent increase in enrollment for the fall semester, with a headcount of 15,534. This increase is a credit to everyone associated with Wichita State, from alumni, students, admissions personnel, faculty and staff — and a credit to the leadership of Dr. Don Beggs.

This fall also marks the beginning of the fourth year of The Shocker magazine. As a member of the association, you receive the magazine four times a year. But if you’re reading this message and thinking, “I only get this publication once a year,” then you’re not a current member. But we invite you to be! Inserted in this magazine is a membership form. To join, just complete it and drop it in the mail to us. Your membership dues help make possible such enterprises as this magazine, alumni events, the Student Alumni Association, our Alumni Speaker Breakfast Series and more.

Finally, I want to invite all of you to join us for the best Halloween party ever — The Blair Wu Project, Sat., Oct. 26. Visit our website at www.blairwuproject.com for details and online reservations.

Have a great fall!

Association News

Dare to Come ... The Blair Wu Project. Years ago, an intrepid group of Shocker faithful headed for the deep Wichita woods. Their mission: to raise funds in support of higher education at Wichita State. It was supposed to be a routine trip — but they were never heard from again.
