To date, more than $70,000 has been added to Wichita State’s general scholarship fund by the “Drive Your Pride” WSU License Plate Scholarship Program, which is managed by the WSU Alumni Association.
This year, seven students were awarded scholarships. From left, they are Olivia Balderas, who is studying pre-med; Trisha Blau, integrated marketing and communications; Sarah Edwards, nursing; Andrea Cohlmia, marketing and psychology; Salyi Vu, philosophy, sociology, ethnic studies and Spanish; Jason Bennett, biology; and Michelle Voge, elementary education.
Andrew Watson, left, a freshman from Strasburg, Colo., is the recipient of the inaugural 2002-03 Legacy Scholarship.
Established to promote and preserve family ties at the university, the Legacy Scholarship is an endowed scholarship awarded to a student who is enrolled full- or part-time at WSU. The recipient must be either a child or grandchild of an individual who has completed at least 30 credit hours at WSU and is a dues-paying member of the WSU Alumni Association.
Applications are being taken now for the $1,000 2003-04 scholarship. The application deadline is Feb. 28, 2003. The scholarship will be awarded in spring 2003 for the following school year.
