The first graduate of the WSU School of Art and Design's Master of Fine Arts program, Larmer has tallied 41 one-man shows and has had work accepted in 101 national and regional juried or invitational exhibitions over the course of his artistic career. His paintings are included in many public and private collections. Patrick Rowley '55 has described his work as "never strident or overly theatrical. He paints with a kind of quiet and joyful confidence that produces an almost effortless clarity and strength, an almost mystical reverence for the enormous power and space of landscape imagery." Before retiring in 1989, Larmer was professor of art at Kansas State University. Photo courtesy Strecker-Nelson Gallery, Manhattan, Kan.
