On April 20, 2017, we will honor our 61st class of Wichita State University Alumni Award inductees. Each year we review nominations and learn about our outstanding alumni and faculty here at WSU. Here is the list of honorees for the 2016 class:
Mildred “Mickey” Armstrong ’45, Dean ’82 and Esther ’79 Headley, Ron Matson, Jackie Williams ’67 and Mark Finucane ’76. It is truly my pleasure to be the first to congratulate them and welcome them into the Shocker family of alumni award honorees.
As we come to the end of 2016, I look back and reflect on the amazing year it has been. From generous gifts from Cybertron International providing computers, monitors and desktop support for the new Experiential Engineering Building to the reinstallation of Personnages Oiseaux (Bird People), it has been a year to celebrate. As we watch the Innovation Campus become a reality with new buildings set to open in the new year, 2017 promises to be another year of exciting change and new adventures.
I hope you’ll visit campus, if you haven’t done so lately, to see our changing landscape. We welcomed the largest freshman class in school history this fall, and it’s my hope we break this record with future incoming classes. We have so much to offer our young people of today, and looking at this year’s class of Alumni Award recipients, we see that our alumni are achieving success with their degrees and working within their communities for a better tomorrow.
Join me in congratulating our award recipients and welcoming our future alumni to Wichita State University. May your holidays be joyous with best wishes for a blessed New Year!
