you to mark your calendar for upcoming fun: the 2006 RnR
slated for Sat., Oct. 28.

Everything about it was supersized: From the Shocker yellow and black mega-balloons that greeted more than 1,000 Wichita State alumni, faculty and friends to Charles Koch Arena last Nov. 5 for the second Rockin’  the Roundhouse event to the mega-support shown for all things Shocker.

Chaired by Karen and Brad Clothier, the RnR fundraiser brought in $240,000 in support of the many programs and activities of Shocker Athletics and the WSU Alumni Association, including scholarships for Wichita State students and student-athletes. The event featured both live and silent auctions, live music and the menu offerings of 30 area restaurants.

For such a supersized happening, nearly 150 WSU students, staff and both alumni and university volunteers teamed up to plan, organize, promote and man the event. Among student groups playing key RnR roles were the WSU Spirit Squad, Shocker Golden Girls and the Student Ambassador Society.

Among those enjoying the evening were alumni and friends Jan and Jerry ’63 Aaron, Lora and Don ’88 Barry, Trish ’96 and Ken ’91 Brasted, Sam ’89 Cohlmia, Myra and Tom Devlin, Maura and Bob Geist, Jacque hn ’01 and Sam hn ’01 Kouri, Mary Alice and Mike Morgan, Cindy ’77/85 and Barry Schwan, Casey and Val Sigg, Lynn ’64/92 and Don ’59 Stephan, Kate and Dan ’67 Taylor, and Velma Wallace, while included in the roster of Shocker personalities in attendance were WSU First Lady Shirley and President Don Beggs, Debbie ’94 and Mike ’71 Kennedy, Priscilla and Jim Schaus, Paula ’83 and Gene Stephenson, and Ann and Mark Turgeon.
