Each of us has our own reason why Wichita State University is an important part of our lives. The WSU Alumni Association exists to provide you with a range of opportunities to keep your connection with the University alive.
Your membership in the alumni association can assure that the bonds of being a Wichita State Shocker will never be broken. If you know someone who is not a member, I hope you will encourage him or her to join. Our website address is www.wichita.edu/alumni.
Which brings me to my next topic — Homecoming 2010. And that was not a typo. As a student, I never quite understood why the tradition-rich event didn’t exist on our campus simply because we didn’t field a football team.
The WSU Alumni Association is proud to announce a collaborative effort with the current student body to embark upon bringing back the tradition that has been gone for far too long. I hope that many alums and friends of the University will be inspired to participate in the planning process for this great event that is scheduled for Feb. 12-14. Homecoming 2010 festivities will be built around the Shocker men’s basketball game against the Missouri State Bears on Sun., Feb. 14.
If you are looking for a reason or place to get involved at Wichita State, please take the time to contact one of the great staff members at the alumni association and offer up your assistance for this or any other event.
I am truly honored to have the opportunity this year to serve as the 80th president of the WSU Alumni Association, especially considering the outstanding legacies of the leaders who came before me, including my immediate predecessor Dan Unruh ’86.
With your help, I’m sure we can make this a year to remember.
Go, Shocks.
