Director's Corner

BY DEBBIE KENNEDY '94

At the WSU Alumni Association, we have come to the end of another fiscal year, making this a time of transition for the association — and a continuing time of transition for me, personally.

First, let me thank all of you who have been so encouraging and supportive during my first months on the job, particularly our outgoing president, Kathy Sexton ’89/92. Kathy has presided over a unique period in the history of the association.

As only one example, she helped oversee our new and important endeavor with the athletic department, the fundraiser Rockin’ the Roundhouse. She handled all the year’s challenges with both strength and grace, and I cannot thank her enough for her generous gifts of time and knowledge.

I also want to thank Paul Werner ’00, director of administration and finance, not only for serving in the role of interim executive director for seven months, but also for his help and support to me in my new role.

While it is sad to say goodbye to Kathy, I welcome Dave Dahl ’71/74, our incoming president, and look forward to working with him, as well as with our current and our new board members Reena Crisler ’94, Molly McMillin ’94, Shelly Moore, Collin Stieben ’00 and Jim Zielke ’86.

I assure our members and friends that we are working diligently to  better serve all of you, and I welcome any suggestion that can help us accomplish our goals.

Have a great summer.
