A Most Fashionable Affair

Dee Anne and Haley FahnestockShockers of every age — including Dee Anne and Haley Fahnestock, left — were out in style April 11 at the Olive Tree Banquet Hall.

Emceed by style maven Bonnie Bing Honeyman ’70/76, the WSU Alumni Fashion Show spotlighted alumni models in spring and summer clothes from some of Wichita’s premier clothiers, namely Carla’s Wild at Heart, Eccentricity, GM Clotheshorse, Johnston’s Clothiers, Kracker Jax, McPhail’s Clothiers, Spring Creek Kids and the WSU Bookstore.

WSU President Don and First Lady Shirley Beggs opened the show in Shocker fashions from the university’s bookstore. After lunch was served, other fashions — from cool and comfortable to stunningly sophisticated — were modeled by WSU Alumni Association Executive Director Brad Beets ’87, WSU Alumni Association President Jeff DeGraffenreid ’88 and his son Nate, Dee Anne Fahnestock and her daughter Haley, Dan ’59 and Linda Foley, Bryan Frye ’87/88, Ashley Gibson ’02, La Tricia Harper ’95/02, Joy Heinrichs ’00, Al ’61 and Judy Higdon, WSU Vice President for University Advancement Elizabeth King, Dot McNicol, Mattie Murphy, Gerald Norwood ’74, Graham Oldfather, Felicia Crowley-Rolfe ’87/88 and Denise Ziegler ’79.

Event attendees were treated to special gifts provided by Clinique—Dillard’s (Towne East & Towne West), while Amelia’s Jewelry, Handmade by Jen and Origins manned booths featuring their original fashion accessories. Special thanks also are extended to Planet Hair, whose professionals did hair and make-up, and to event sponsor the Wichita Business Journal.
