Wichita State was chosen second in the MVC women’s basketball preseason poll, and Alex Harden became the program’s first-ever preseason Player of the Year in the annual survey of MVC coaches, sports information directors and media members.
Indiana State was voted atop the poll with 26 first-place votes and 378 total points. The Shockers garnered 360 points and 13 first-place votes. Loyola netted one first-place vote.
Harden, a junior, was the 2012-13 MVC Defensive Player of the Year and the MVC Tournament MVP.
Also selected a first-team all-Valley member, she led WSU in points, rebounds, assists, blocked shots and steals.
