Shockers Forever, our student alumniassociation, ended the year strong. This year held many challenges that the Core Group faced head on, completing them with flying colors. They even added a few new projects for the year. The Core Group, or executive board, consisted of Margaret Ussery, president; Michaela Stephenson; Alaina Bush; Margy Long; Emily Blount; and Kamika Hicks. This year was a rebuilding year for us. We started out manning membership tables every weekday for the first two weeks of school. We had our membership packages ready – our Shockers Forever T-shirts were folded, cinch bags packed with water bottles, discount cards ready. We were ready to market our student group to the larger Shocker student body.
As the year progressed, we released three T-shirts, started the student-alumni networking event, Dine with an Alum, and prepared and distributed finals goodie bags at the end of both fall and spring semesters. This spring, we also organized a philanthropic T-shirt swap.
Looking forward to next year, we will be releasing our first Traditions Book. This book will highlight past and present Wichita State happenings, activities and traditions. We will be continuing our Dine with an Alum event and our Shocker Pride shirts for every member. It's going to be another exciting year for the student group.
