On Saturday, Nov. 15, FarmHouse fraternity was officially welcomed to Wichita State during a colonization ceremony at the Marcus Welcome Center.
Colony members Zach Atkeson, Jianhan Chen, John Lynn, Moses Maina, Alex McGowan, Devon Miller, Samuel Mumford, Wise Osagie, Jordan Ross, Carter Pankratz, Hariharan Ravikumar, Arvind Ravishanker, Tanner Shirk, Braden Teeter and Brent Wilson were presented with FarmHouse shield pins during the ceremony.
FarmHouse, a social fraternity, has more than 35 chapters, colonies and interest groups in the United States and Canada.
FarmHouse’s application to colonize at Wichita State was unanimously approved last summer by members of the Interfraternity Council. FarmHouse’s selection was based primarily on support from the national headquarters, risk management policies and procedures, and its focus on alumni support.
“This respectable reputation is a good fit for the direction of the IFC community, and the university as a whole,” says former IFC president and current Phi Delta Theta president Matthew Conklin.
Each letter in the FarmHouse name represents attributes the fraternity encourages its members to embrace: faith, ambition, reverence, morality, honesty, obedience, unity, service and excellence.
