Class of 1956 Reunion

April 20-22, 2006 — University of Wichita Class of 1956 Reunion. Attention 1956 undergraduates! Mark your calendar and plan now to return to your alma mater this spring. Reunion planning will begin soon, and you’re invited to participate. If you’re a Class of ’56 undergrad, watch your mail for more info. 


Rise & Shine Speakers

Richard Kincaid ’84, president and CEO of Chicago’s Equity Office Properties Trust, the nation’s largest publicly held office building owner and manager, kicked off the 2005-06 WSU Distinguished Alumni Speaker Breakfast Series on Sept. 23 at the Marcus Welcome Center. Among those attending were series chair Lois Hubbard ’56, Jed Hurley ’59 of San Francisco, Calif., and Jay Hull ’83 of Irving, Texas, who introduced Kincaid.

Upcoming speakers are Greg Brummett ’91, Fri., Oct. 21; Kathy Page-Hauptman ’88, Fri., Nov. 18; Matt Stinemetze ’98, Fri., Feb. 24, 2006; Luisa Gonzalez ’66/68, Fri., March 17, 2006; and Arneatha Martin ’75/80, Fri., April 28, 2006.


Welcomefest 2005

Welcoming WSU students back to school Aug. 29 were alumni association staff and Student Ambassador Society members, who dished up more than 500 root beer floats in the Rhatigan Student Center courtyard as part of Welcomefest activities.


WSU Nursing News

Helping welcome some 80 nursing students to Wichita State’s undergraduate and graduate programs during orientations on Aug. 17 and 31 were WSU President Don Beggs, Dean of the College of Health Professions Peter Cohen, Associate Dean Juanita Tate, WSU Alumni Association Executive Director Debbie Kennedy ’94 and WSU Nursing Alumni Society President Carla Lee ’72/75/84. Among alumni in attendance were Brenda Gile-Laflin ’89/91, Steve fs ’78 and Vicki ’76 Martens, Linda Matson ’84/88, Greg Sevier ’75, Mel ’50 and Kay Snyder and Gary Steed ’74/89.

Golden Anniversary

The WSU Alumni Association’s annual awards ceremony is set to take place Jan. 26, 2006, and this year’s event — the 50th — will see awards presented to six outstanding Shockers.

A Rollickin' Good Time

Charles Koch Arena will once again be the place to be for a blockbuster evening of Shocker fun, food and entertainment. The second annual Rockin’ the Roundhouse event is slated for Sat., Nov. 5.
