Buckle Up

Chad Pore ’04, a sport administration graduate, has been recognized by the Journal of Emergency Medical Services as having gone “above and beyond” in emergency medicine.

Since 2014, he has served as emergency medical services director in Butler County, Kan. Before that he was EMS director in Kiowa County.

Pore, an EMT-P, couldn’t help but notice that too often the safety of EMS providers is overlooked — especially when it comes to ambulances. So he came up with a design that allows for EMTs and paramedics to be seated facing forward and buckled in, while still administering quality care to the patient.

He won the 2017 Innovators in EMS Award.
