Just Say No to Castles

M. Lee Pelton ’74, the president of Emerson College in Boston, returned to his alma mater this past April to accept the WSU Alumni Achievement Award for his many successes as a national leader in higher education.

During the awards ceremony, Pelton talked about not only his experiences at Wichita State, but also some of Emerson’s educational ventures, including the private college’s expansion projects.

There is Emerson’s campus in Los Angeles, for example, as well as its Education Abroad Program in Well, The Netherlands, housed in a restored 14th-century medieval castle.

Citing the cost of “castle upkeep,” Pelton joked that Kasteel Well is sure to remain Emerson’s sole castle campus.
