It may seem like yesterday, but it’s been 50 years since members of the Class of 1958 received their degrees — and that’s something to celebrate.
To that end, class members are invited to return to Wichita State (which was, of course, the University of Wichita then) for a weekend of fun and reminiscing Thu.-Sat., Oct. 2-4.
There will be lots to remember too, like the “circus party” thrown by members of Delta Delta Delta.
While the football team struggled, who could forget the pink elephant at homecoming and the members of Pi Alpha dressing up a snowman as a woman?
Or how about the return of raccoon coats to college life and those morbid “Mary Ann” jokes?
The Forum Board lecture series attracted high-profile speakers such as newsman Chet Huntley, actor Vincent Price and Justice William O. Douglas. The theater department was busy with plays, including “Dial M for Murder” and “The Crucible.”
Among the reunion’s activities are a welcome reception, campus tours and a luncheon inducting class members into the 50-Year Club. Invitations will be mailed in August to all 1958 undergraduates.
