Showcasing Shocker Pride

The 9th Annual Shocker Honors Scholar Banquet, a joint effort by the WSU Alumni Association and the Office of Admissions, provided an opportunity for some of the area’s top academic achieving high school juniors to learn about Wichita State.

Students from six Wichita and 16 area high schools gathered Oct. 21 in the Preferred Health Systems Multi-purpose Center at Koch Arena to be recognized for their accomplishments and garner a first-hand look at WSU.

Alumni table hosts, including Stephanie Reffner ’86, Collin Stieben ’00, Tammy Allen ’82, Mike Kennedy ’71, Dan Unruh ’86 and Dave ’71 and Tonya ’06 Dahl, were on hand to share their Shocker experiences with the prospective students.

Traveling Wichita State men's basketball fans, university administrators and WSU alumni from the Fort Worth area met at the Mellow Mushroom before the Shockers took to the court Dec. 8, 2008, against the Horned Frogs of TCU.
