Shockers Visit Frogs

Traveling Wichita State men’s basketball fans, university administrators and WSU alumni from the Fort Worth area met at the Mellow Mushroom before the Shockers took to the court Dec. 8, 2008, against the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University.

Alumni event host Annette Thompson ’01 of Fort Worth, along with WSU Alumni Association assistant events director Amanda Zedrick, helped organize the pre-game party and greet Wichita State guests Provost Gary Miller; Doug Hensler, dean of WSU’s W. Frank Barton School of Business; Eric Sexton ’82/89, WSU athletic director; and Terre Johnson, WSU Foundation vice president for development.

Among the WSU alumni attendees were Michael Baker ’67 of Arlington, Texas; Erin Dietz ’93 of Euless, Texas; Bob Barcus ’59 of Hurst, Texas; Darren Heizer '74 and Tony Smith '96, both of Lewisville, Texas; Jay Hull ’83 of Irving, Texas; and Tracy Rowlett ’67, Kent Shields ’67, Shontae Smart ’00 and Rich Walker ’87, all of Dallas. 

Annette Thompson '01, pictured at right, helped organize the event, which was attended by Shocker alumni and even a TCU grad or two, including Babette Bouw.

The 9th Annual Shocker Honors Scholar Banquet, a joint effort by the WSU Alumni Association and the Office of Admissions, provided an opportunity for some of the area's top academic achieving high school juniors to learn about Wichita State.
