WuShock license tagThanks to the 1,029 Shockers sporting WuShock on their Kansas license plates, more than $160,000 has been added to scholarship funds since the beginning of the Drive Your Pride program.

For the 2006-07 school year, the winners of $4,000 license plate scholarships are Brooke Amos, political science; James Blakemore, chemistry and Spanish; Anthony Curry, political science; Ashley Houser, nursing; Matthew Long, political science; Meagan Patton, print journalism; and Rob Musgrave, Shocker baseball player and business major, who says: “The scholarship helps me out tremendously when paying for tuition and housing.

This scholarship means that my hard work in school has paid off. It makes me want to succeed more, knowing that I can be rewarded for my  hard work. I am honored to receive this award and feel very fortunate to have been chosen.”

And thanks to the alumni association’s Legacy Endowed Scholarship Fund, Alisa Klein, pre-dental hygiene; Alyssa Hanning, elementary education; Trent Patterson, business management; Colt Chaffin, music performance; and Jamie Moore, elementary education, have been awarded $1,000 scholarships for 2006-07.

Legacy winners are either children or grandchildren of individuals who have completed 30 credit hours or more at Wichita State and who are a member of the alumni association as of Jan. 1 of the year the recipient receives the scholarship.
