Director's Corner

BY DEBBIE KENNEDY '94

If you have not been inside the Woodman Alumni Center lately, you are due for a visit!

A building addition and complete interior renovation have taken place under the auspices of the WSU Board of Trustees and the leadership of its chair — Joan Beren ’83.

Roger Lowe, WSU vice president of administration and finance, served as project manager. He was assisted in his oversight duties by John Gist, WSU director of facilities planning. During the months of construction, I never saw John without Gary Brichacek, assistant director of facilities planning.

The contractor for the job was Conco, and the wonderfully creative architect was David White of Howard & Helmer Architects PA. Dave especially impressed me with his design for our basement, which now serves both the alumni association and is also a classy headquarters for Wichita State’s Center for Management Development.

When talking with Dave about our basement, I mentioned the association’s Shocker memorabilia collection and how we would love to be able to display our items. He listened, and we have new, beautiful display cases to show off our pieces. In fact, we need more Shocker memorabilia! If you can help, please contact the association.
